Events in Duck – Week of August 24

The following free, family-friendly events take place at the Duck Town Park, 1200 Duck Road.  Please note, in the event of rain, events may be moved into the Duck Town Meeting Hall within the park.

Yoga on the Green – Tuesday, August 25 at 7:30 a.m.

Yoga on the GreenStart your day in Duck with a yoga class for students of all levels led by Duck Village Yoga. Classes are held on the Town Green Tuesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. Participants are asked to bring a yoga mat or a beach towel and water.

Dynamic Flow Fitness on the Green – Wednesday, August 26 at 7:30 a.m.

Get your day started with an energizing workout led by Outer Banks Health on the Green on Wednesday mornings at 7:30 a.m. The workout, “Dynamic Flow”, incorporates elements of capoeira, yoga, and body weight conditioning to build strength, flexibility, and endurance. A yoga mat is not needed for this class, but water is encouraged.

Concert on the Green: Sean Olds & The Church of The Eternal – Thursday, August 20 at 6:30 p.m.

Bands entertain concert-goers on the Duck Town Green from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Coolers, adult beverages, picnics, pets and children are welcome! Be sure to bring your chairs or blankets.

Sean Olds and the Church of the Eternal is a five piece Americana band with a Laurel Canyon sound hailing from the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Sean writes and performs original music up and down the East Coast and during the summer the band performs their original songs on the Outer Banks. He draws his influences from artists like Jackson Browne, The Eagles, and Neil Young.

Surf and Sounds: Chamber Music Series – Friday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m.

The Don and Catharine Bryan Cultural Series will sponsor a free Surf and Sounds: Chamber Music Concert at the Duck Amphitheater on Friday August 28, 2015 at 6:30 PM. The featured musicians include violinist, Christopher Franke of the Fairfax Symphony and the Marine Band Symphony; Elizabeth Coulter Vonderheide, violinist with the Virginia Symphony; Luke Fleming, violist, artistic director of the Manhattan Chamber Players; Jacob Fowler, cellist with the Virginia Symphony. Musical works will include fun trios, duos, and solos, from composers such as Dvorak and Ravel.

Rotating Art Show: Retrospect Exhibition, Denver Lindley – 1930-2010

August 5 through October 30, 2015, in Duck Town Hall, featuring work from the late Denver Lindley. The show can be viewed during regular office hours, Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.Visit the Rotating Art Show page for more information on the artists, and information on past and future shows.
