TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 11 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 153 business checks were made. 2 unsecure doors were found.
  • 1 extra patrol was requested by an out-of-town property owner this week.   

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Injury to Property (Christopher Drive)

On September 19, 2022, Officers responded to a homeowner stating someone landscaped his property and installed solar lights. The area in question was found to be on the property line and the homeowner could not find his property pins. The homeowner was advised that a dispute over property lines is a civil matter.

  • Trespassing (Sea Colony Drive)

On September 20, 2022, officers responded to a report of someone entering the residence stating they were a maintenance man, but the individual was gone upon arrival. When the caller contacted the realty company, they stated they didn’t send anyone to the rental. Officers advised the caller that it could possibly be onsite maintenance for the condos and to call back if the individual returned.

  • Suspicious Conditions (South Spinnaker Court)

On September 23, 2022, officers received a call stating someone had taken the callers keys and would not let them leave. Officers found it to be someone that showed up uninvited to a rental house intoxicated. When the caller tried to leave her boyfriend took her keys and would not let her drive. Parties agreed to stay at the residence in separate rooms and the caller would leave when she was sober. 

  • Suspicious Person (Duck Road)

On September 23, 2022, an employee of Tommy’s Market called to report a male harassing a female employee. Officers advised they would contact management to trespass the suspect from the property, and to call if he returned. Officers responded back when the suspect, Carl Kiehn, returned and trespassed him from the property.

  • Arrest (Duck Road)

On September 24, 2022, officers responded to Tommy’s Market in reference to a trespassed suspect on the property.  62-year-old Carl Kiehn of Duck, North Carolina was arrested and charged with trespassing.  He was held at Dare County Detention Center in leu of a $1,000.00 secured bond. 

  • Larceny (Duck Road)

On September 24, 2022, officers responded to Han Dee Hugos in reference to a customer requesting lottery tickets and then refusing to pay for them after they were printed.  Officers explained to the clerk that if would be a civil matter since the customer did not leave with any merchandise.

TRAFFIC CRASHES

  • Duck Road / East Sea Hawk Drive

On September 20, 2022, a two-vehicle rear end collision occurred that resulted in minor damage and no injuries.

  • Duck Road / Christopher Drive

On September 21, 2022, a vehicle backing from a parking spot at Scarborough Faire struck another vehicle in a parking spot.
