TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 32 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 151 business checks were made. 1 unsecure door was found.
  • 3 extra patrols were requested by out of town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Shoplifting (Duck Road)

On May 8, 2023, a business reported a female concealing merchandise.  Officers charged and released 18 year old, Makayla Elmore of Virginia, for attempted larceny.

  • Town Code Violation (Duck Road)

On May 11, 2023, officers responded to a report of a Jeep driving on the beach in the area of the Sanderling.  Officers responded and located tire tracks in the sand but were unable to locate the vehicle.

  • Harassing Texts Messages (Duck Road)

On May 12, 2023, a female subject reported her ex-husband sending threatening and distasteful text messages and emails.  An investigation revealed that no crime had been committed, but the complainant was asked to continue recording and monitoring the messages.

  • Noise Disturbance (Dunes Crest)

On May 12, 2023, officers responded to a noise disturbance at a residential construction site.  The workers advised they lost track of time and did not realize it was after 6 pm.  The work was stopped for the day.

  • Abandoned Property (Duck Road / Mallard Drive)

On May 13, 2023, three abandoned bikes were found on the side of the road.  All were in poor condition.  They may have been placed there for bulk waste pick up and were overlooked.

  • Missing Person (Duck Road)

On May 13, 2023, a female was reported missing after going out for the evening.  The female was located sleeping in a car at a nearby residence about 90 minutes after the report was filed.

  • Suspicious Condition (Wood Duck Drive)

On May 13, 2023, the resident at ### Wood Duck Drive became confused and tried to enter a vehicle in the driveway of ### Wood Duck Drive.  The subject was escorted safely back to his residence.

  • Town Code Violation (Duck Road)

On May 13, 2023, officers responded to a report of subjects passing out religious pamphlets and harassment along the boardwalk.  Officers located the subjects and advised them of the complaint.  The subjects left the area without incident.

TRAFFIC CRASHES

  • Duck Road / Poteskeet Drive

On May 8, 2023, a vehicle stopped to allow pedestrians to cross the road.  The following vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of the stopped vehicle.

  • Duck Road / 1174 Duck Road

On May 13, 2023, a vehicle stopped to allow pedestrians to cross the road.  The following vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of the stopped vehicle.

  • Duck Road / Four Seasons Lane

On May 13, 2023, a vehicle stopped to allow pedestrians to cross the road.  The following vehicle failed to stop and struck the rear of the stopped vehicle.
