  • Officers issued traffic 47 enforcement actions during the week. 


  • 118 business checks were made.


  • Warrant Service (Speckle Trout Drive)

On June 6, 2022, officers arrested Mark Trotman, 62 years-of-age, of Duck, North Carolina for not appearing in court on outstanding charges. Trotman is being held at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $1,000.00 secured bond.

  • Fraud (Duck Road)

On June 6, 2022, a Town Employee received an e-mail containing a shipping confirmation for an electronic item that had been purchased online.  The employee didn’t order the item, so he reached out to the retailer to inquire about the order.  It was discovered that the employee’s credit card number had been compromised. A police investigation revealed that additional orders had been placed by the suspect, and where being shipped to a person who was being paid to receive, repackage, and re-mail the fraudulently ordered items.  The credit card was cancelled, and the investigation was transferred to the jurisdiction where the orders were being received.

  • Dispute (Sea Colony Drive)

On June 11, 2022, officers responded to a third-party report of a domestic dispute in progress. Officers arrived and found that the involved parties were engaged in a verbal dispute.  The parties voluntarily separated.

  • Larceny (Duck Road)

On June 12, 2022, officers responded to the report of two suspects stealing six rings from a display. The suspects fled the scene prior to the officer’s arrival. 

  • Fraud (Docks Court)  

On June 12, 2022, officers responded to the report of credit card fraud. A suspect used the victims credit card information to order items online. The fraudulently ordered items were shipped to an address in Maryland. Authorities in Maryland requested the victim file a report in Duck; however, no criminal offense occurred in this jurisdiction. 


  • Duck Road

On June 8, 2022, a vehicle struck a parked vehicle and left contact information. This was a non-reportable collision.

  • Duck Road/Baum Trail

On June 11, 2022, a minor collision between two vehicles occurred. Information was exchanged between the drivers.

  • Duck Road/E. Sea Hawk Drive

On June 11, 2022, an e-bike traveling southbound on the Duck Trail struck a vehicle making a left turn onto E Sea Hawk Drive and dented the vehicle. The bicyclist left the scene prior to police arrival.

  • Duck Road/Four Seasons Lane

On June 12, 2022, a pickup truck struck a passenger car in the rear as the car slowed for heavy traffic. The collision pushed the car into the vehicle in front of it. No apparent injuries.

  • Duck Road/Duck Road

On June 12, 2022, a northbound vehicle stopped for pedestrians crossing at the crosswalk. A following vehicle was unable to stop and struck the first vehicle.  No apparent injuries.
