TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 33 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 176 business checks were made.No unsecured doors were found.
  • 1 extra patrol was requested by an out-of-town property owner this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Dispute (Marlin Drive)

On August 1, 2022, officers responded to a dispute between family members over who the lawful occupant of the residence was.   Officers were able to assist the family members reach an amicable resolution.

  • Breaking and Entering and Larceny (Duck Road)

On August 2, 2022, officers responded to a breaking and entering in progress reported by a caretaker.  Officers searched the house but found it vacant.  The caretaker walked through the house and determined currency, alcohol, and collectables had been stolen.  An investigation is ongoing.  

  • Suspicious Condition (Duck Road)

On August 4, 2022, officers were advised that a wanted person was in Duck.  Officers were unable to locate the individual.

  • Larceny (Duck Road)

On August 4, 2022, an officer took a report for a stolen beach cruiser described as navy and turquoise in color. 

  • Missing Person (Ocean Crest Way)

On August 4, 2022, an adult was reported missing by family members.  The subject was located shortly after the report was made.

  • Larceny (Duck Road)

On August 5, 2022, a Duck business reported a larceny of bracelets.

  • Found Child (Yolanda Court)

On August 7, 2022, officers responded to the report of a juvenile in need of assistance.  Upon arrival, officers determined the juvenile was lost.  The officers worked quickly to reunite the child with the parents.

TRAFFIC CRASHES

  • Duck Road

On August 1, 2022, a northbound vehicle passed another vehicle in a no passing zone.  The passing vehicle sideswiped the vehicle that was being overtaken.  A be on the lookout was issued for the suspect vehicle.  A Currituck County Sheriff’s Deputy located the striking vehicle.  No apparent injuries.

  • Duck Road

On August 3, 2022, two vehicles slowed for traffic.  A third vehicle was unable able to stop before colliding with the second vehicle.  The collision pushed the second vehicle into the first vehicle.  No apparent injuries.

  • Duck Road / Scarborough Lane

On August 3, 2022, a minor rear end collision occurred. No apparent injuries.

  • Duck Road

On August 7, 2022, a motorcyclist attempted to pass slower moving traffic by using the center turn lane.  The motorcyclist  failed to see a vehicle turn southbound from a parking and collided with the front left corner of the vehicle.  No apparent injuries.
