TRAFFIC

Officers issued 4 traffic enforcement actions during the week.

PROPERTY CHECKS

103 business checks were made. 2 unsecured doors were found.

11 extra patrol checks were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.

29 residential property checks were made. 1 unsecured doors were found.

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

Arrest 

Shawn Lablue was arrested on the additional felony charges related to the break-ins he committed in Duck. LaBlue is being held at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of a $350,000 secured bond.

Arrest (Duck Road)

43-year-old Christopher McDonald was arrested on a warrant out of Currituck County for failure to pay child support.

Damage to Property (Buffelhead Road)

Homeowner found damage to a pergola. Damage possibly occurred when a large truck backed into the driveway.

TRAFFIC CRASHES

Duck Road/Town Park

Vehicle hydroplaned during a heavy rainfall and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the roadway and came to rest atop multiple headstones in the Roger’s Cemetery. The driver of the vehicle was cited for traveling at a speed to fast for road conditions. The Town is filing a claim against the driver’s insurance to repair the headstones. No injuries.

Duck Road/Tides Drive

Vehicle failed to see a stopped vehicle and collided into the rear of the vehicle. The driver who struck the vehicle was cited for failing to reduce speed to avoid a collision. No injuries.

Duck Road/Nor’Banks Drive

Deer ran into the roadway and struck a vehicle. Minor damage to the vehicle. The deer was not located.
