INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Fraud (Duck Road)
The suspect told the victim, by phone, to purchase gift cards and transmit the card numbers to the suspect to pay off a debt. The victims used a credit card to purchase $9,000.00 in gift cards from Harris Teeter. Officers assisted the residents in contacting their credit card company to report the fraud.
- Suspicious Condition (Ships Wheel Court)
Officers were called to a report of three males smashing things in the area. The caller could not see exactly what they were doing but could hear them and saw them leaving on a golf cart. The golf cart was located occupied by four juveniles. The driver stated they were lost and got stuck trying to turn around. Officers did not see any damage near the reporting party, but damage was noticed on the golf cart. The parents of the juveniles were notified of the damage and the local ordinances / laws pertaining to golf carts.
- Suspicious Condition (Georgetown Sands Road)
The caller, who is the caretaker of the property, reported that his family’s Airbnb was accessed by an unauthorized user. When officers arrived, they found that the front and rear doors were both unsecure. With permission from the caller, officers searched the residence, but found no one. After further investigation it was determined that the caller’s app, which showed the lock as accessed, did so in error.
- Trespassing (Seabreeze Drive)
A resident of Sea Breeze reported that subjects staying in Osprey Ridge were using their beach access. Officers were able to locate the subjects, who were advised they were trespassing.
- Duck Road/Poteskeet Drive
Minor two-vehicle collision in parking lot. Information exchanged between drivers.
- Duck Road/Nor Banks Drive
Two vehicle head on collision. Both vehicles were severely damaged, and all occupants of both vehicles were transported via Dare County EMS and Currituck EMS. Crash is under investigation.
