TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 15 traffic enforcement actions during the week.

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 113 business checks were made. unsecured doors were found.
  • 1 extra patrol check was requested by out-of-town property owners this week.

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Larceny (Dune Rd)

A rental bicycle was stolen from the car port area of the residence. There are no known suspects at this time and the bicycle has not been recovered.

  • Damage to Property (Duck Rd) 

The fitness facility at Ocean Pines Condos was vandalized with graffiti. Black spray paint was used in the shower area.

  • Larceny (W Sea Hawk Dr)

Two Town of Duck flags were stolen from their poles near Duck Rd and W Sea Hawk. The poles were also damaged in the process.

  • Larceny (Acorn Oak)

A beach cart that was rented from Kitty Hawk Rentals was dropped off at the home before renters arrived. When they arrived, the beach cart was missing.

  • Fraud (Pintail Dr)

While staying in Duck, a visitor nearly fell victim to an email scam. posing as an employer, the offender requested they purchase a large amount in gift cards and send the numbers to them. The scam was discovered when the visitor contacted said employer via phone.

Traffic Crashes

  • Georgetown Sands/Duck Rd

Three vehicle rear end collision occurred as a vehicle was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Georgetown Sands. No injuries reported.

  • E Charles Jenkins Ln/Duck Rd

Two vehicle rear end collision occurred as vehicles were traveling north in heavy traffic. One injured person elected to drive herself to the medical center.

  • Wampum Dr/Duck Rd

Two vehicle rear end collision occurred as vehicles were traveling south in heavy traffic. No injuries reported.

  • Wood Duck Dr/Duck Rd

Two vehicle rear end collision occurred as one vehicle was waiting to turn left onto Wood Duck Dr. One passenger was transported to Outer Banks Hospital with minor injuries.
