INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Mutual Aid Provided
Duck Officers were called to assist the Kitty Hawk Police Department with a vehicle pursuit that originated in Kitty Hawk. While Duck Officers were in route, the suspect vehicle turned onto a dead-end road in Southern Shores. Duck Officers responded to that location and assisted Kitty Hawk Officers in taking the suspect into custody.
- Drug Violation (Duck Road)
Officers initiated a vehicle stop pursuant to a DMV revocation order on the registration plate. During the traffic stop it was determined the driver was not the registered owner. However, the driver’s license was revoked, and a small amount of marijuana was found in the vehicle. The driver was cited and released, but the vehicle was left at the scene pending the owner obtaining a valid license plate. The marijuana was destroyed in lieu of a citation.
- Arrest (Duck Road)
Officers were advised to be on the lookout for a vehicle involved in a hit and run in Kitty Hawk. The vehicle was located pulling into Loblolly Pines Shops. During the investigation it was determined that the driver was impaired. 65-year-old Susan Tatum of Corolla, North Carolina was arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired. Tatum was held at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of $1,000.00 secured bond.
- Harassing/Obscene Phone Calls (Duck Road/Pizzazz)
A male caller contacted the business asking for dinner specials. When an employee answered, the caller made obscene comments to the employee.
- Hit and Run (Duck Road/Schooner Ridge Drive)
A hit and run was reported two days after the incident at 1209 Duck Road. A van belonging to Coastal Cravings was hit by a delivery vehicle in the parking lot causing minor damage to the vehicle.
- Rear End Collision, Minor Injury (Duck Road/Waxwing Lane)
A two-vehicle, rear end crash, with injuries occurred at this location. Three occupants were evaluated by EMS, but all three patients refused treatment.
