Summer events return to the Duck Town Park in the heart of Duck Village. The Town of Duck will host a full schedule of free, family-friendly events on the Town Green and in the Amphitheater at 1200 Duck Road. The 2015 schedule offers Bike Safety Hour, yoga and fitness classes, evening concerts, children’s interactive theater, story time, family magic shows, and movies on the sound. The 11th Annual Town of Duck 4th of July Parade is scheduled for Friday, July 3, 2015, and will take place along the annual parade route beginning on Scarborough Lane.
The summer events season begins with Movies on the Sound, presented by Children @ Play, select Friday’s on the Town Green. Bring the whole family for a memorable experience under the setting sun and rising stars. Movies will begin at dusk. Although free, donations are appreciated to benefit Children @ Play. Blankets and chairs are encouraged. The schedule begins Friday, June 5 with the movie Frozen and other pre-event fun with characters in costumes performing “In Summer” live on stage. Then, on Tuesday mornings from June 16 to September 8, rejuvenate your body and mind with Yoga on the Green led by Duck Village Yoga at 7:30 a.m. On Wednesday mornings from June 17 to September 9, get your day started with an energizing workout led by Outer Banks Health during Fitness on the Green at 7:30 a.m. All ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend.
Gather the kids and head to the Amphitheater for some entertaining Children’s Interactive Theater on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m. from June 23 to August 11. Children’s theater will feature presentations by the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, and performances by The Lost Colony and Roanoke Island Festival Park. Witness illusions, comedy, and mind-bending magic on Wednesday mornings for the Family Magic Show live on the Amphitheater stage at 10:00 a.m. starring world-renowned illusionist Clive Allen. Shows will run from July 1 to August 12, with select dates featuring a second show beginning at 11:30 a.m. While the magic show is free, tickets are required as seating is limited. Tickets go fast!* Tickets are available beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday the week of the show at the show’s sponsor, Kellogg’s Supply Co./The Cottage Shop located across from the Town Park at 1201 Duck Road. There is a six ticket maximum for each show. Tickets are NOT available at the Town Office. *If the tickets are “sold” out, non-ticket holders can form a line at the gate and will be granted entrance if space allows approximately 10 minutes before the show. Non-ticket holders are NOT guaranteed entry to this event. Occasionally, ticket holders will return unused tickets at the gate before the start of the show. As tickets become available, those waiting in the designated non-ticket holder line at the gate may be granted access.
Thursday morning’s from July 9 to August 13, bring the youngsters for Children’s Story Time at 10:00 a.m. in the Amphitheater. This event is geared to children between the ages of 3 and 7. Story Time will feature local bookstores Duck’s Cottage and Island Bookstore, as well as special appearances from Duck Fire and Duck Police. Children’s authors will also be joining Island Bookstore on select dates, July 9 and 23.
After a long day soaking in the beach, shopping, and great foods, head to the Town Park for Thursday evening’s Concert on the Green from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The evening concert series features a variety of live music to entertain all. Coolers, picnics, pets and children are welcome! Chairs and blankets are encouraged. The schedule of performances:

Remember to bring a blanket or lawn chair for events on the Town Green. These items are not necessary for the amphitheater as it has built-in bench seating. Beach umbrellas and tents are not permitted within the Town Park. The park and all facilities are smoke-free. Events are subject to change and may be cancelled based on weather conditions or performer availability. In the event of rain and if performers agree, events will be moved in to the Town Meeting Hall.
Duck’s 11th Annual Fourth of July Parade will be held on Friday, July 3, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. Immediately following the parade, join us at the Town Park for live music from Just Playn’ Dixieland, cold refreshments, and the awarding of the parade trophies! No part of the parade takes place on Duck Road/NC 12. The one-mile parade route is the same annually and begins at the crest of the hill on Scarborough Lane. The route follows Scarborough Lane towards the ocean, turns left onto Ocean Way, and then heads down Christopher Drive ending at Duck Road (NC 12). Parades are not held on weekend days due to traffic and rental changeover days. The 2016 parade will be held on Monday, July 4, 2016.
