The public is invited to attend an Opening Reception on Saturday, May 9 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on display at Duck Town Hall, 1200 Duck Road, as part of the town’s Rotating Art Show series. The upcoming show, “Photography Exhibition”, features the work of local photographers Cyndi Goetcheus Sarfan, Dan Beauvais, and Dan Waters. While each artist shares the same picturesque, natural subject that is the Outer Banks, each one draws different inspiration from nature. “Photography Exhibition” will run the months of May, June and July 2015. This series begins on Monday, May 4, 2015, and can be viewed during Town Administrative Office Hours, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Cyndi Goetcheus Sarfan, an award-winning fine art and wildlife photographer, comes from an Army family which kept her on the move to various places throughout the world—from Germany to Thailand, among other bases. Her military upbringing has left her with a lifelong passion for travel and an appreciation of a variety of artistic and cultural expressions, as well as an interest in wildlife preservation all over the world. Her work can be seen online in several locations and at her website cjnewlifephotography.com.
Artist Dan Beauvais, with more than 400 acceptances in international photographic exhibitions and a past leader of several clubs in New England and North Carolina, has based his talents out of Kitty Hawk and shares his snapshots of beauty found here on the Outer Banks. Beauvais was a teacher of photography at Wake Technical Community College and has co-chaired multiple exhibitions in Raleigh. Along with friend and fellow photographer Dan Waters, Beauvais leads hand-on photographic experiences in the Outer Banks Photo Workshops.
Dan Waters, a self-taught photographer working from a 35mm camera to now working exclusively digital, makes his living split between ceramic art and a love of photography. His nature photography has been featured in several nature magazines, and the National Wildlife Federation approached him to mount a one person photography exhibit in their national headquarters in Northern Virginia.
We invite you to experience the work of these three photographers who bring their visions and expertise to the Town of Duck as part of the Rotating Art Show series.
