TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 21 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 144 business checks were made. 3 unsecured doors were found.
  • 3 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Civil Issue (Duck Road)

On September 2, 2024, officers were dispatched to a dispute in progress at the Sanderling Inn. A guest ordered a computer and had it delivered to the Inn. The delivery driver arrived earlier than the delivery was scheduled, so the guest was not present to accept the delivery in person. The delivery driver cancelled the delivery, which required him to return the computer to Walmart. The guest was upset by the situation. An officer attempted to contact the vendor to see if there was a way for the subject to get his computer, but the vendor advised they had no affiliation with the delivery service. The guest and delivery driver were advised that no criminal violation had occurred and explained that officers had no further authority to intervene in the situation.

  • Escort (South Snow Geese Drive)

On September 2, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to a subject wanting to retrieve his belongings from a residence. The homeowner was contacted and advised that she would leave the residence so that the male could retrieve his belongings. Officers ensured that no issues occurred.

  • Assist Person (Duck Road)

On September 3, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to a subject that got stuck in the mud while searching for his lost dog. Officers arrived and assisted the subject.

  • Narcotics Violation (Duck Road)

On September 3, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location after a house cleaner located a glass jar containing marijuana.  The marijuana was taken to the police department and destroyed.

  • Suspicious Person (Duck Road)

On September 3, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to an intoxicated male disturbing the front office staff.  Officers arrived and escorted the male to a room belonging to the wedding party he was with. The male slept on the couch and caused no further issues.

  • Larceny (Duck Road)

On September 4, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to shoplifting. Surveillance used showed that one suspect in a group of four placed merchandise into a bag before leaving the store. The merchandise was valued at approximately $200.00. A larceny report was filed and photos of the suspect were disseminated in an attempt to identify them. 

  • Suspicious Vehicle (East Sea Hawk Drive)

On September 4, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to a suspicious vehicle parked in the driveway.  Officers arrived and found the vehicle was owned by the neighbor. Officers made contact was the neighbor, who was known to the caller. The caller was fine with the neighbor using their driveway.

  • Suspicious Noise (Elm Drive and Sound Sea Avenue)

On September 8, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to what sounded like gun shots or fireworks.  Officers checked the area on foot but were unable to locate the source of the noise.
