TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 12 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 131 business checks were made. 2 unsecured doors were found.
  • 18 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Assist Motorists (Duck Road)

On September 17, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to several vehicles flooded out in high stormwater.  Tow trucks were summoned to remove the vehicles. Duck Fire and Police personnel redirected the flow of traffic until the stormwater water receded. 

  • Suspicious Condition (Ocean Crest Way)

On September 19, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location after the homeowner received alerts that someone was in their home. Officers arrived and found the home to be secure. The homeowner later advised the officers that it was determined that an authorized maintenance worker had been at the home.

  • Assist Person (Georgetown Sands Road)

On September 20, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to a construction crew being stuck due to water pump hoses spanning the road. Officers were able to get the crew safely out of the area.

  • Civil Dispute (Georgetown Sands Road)

On September 21, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to an allegation that a resident on Seabreeze Drive was pumping stormwater onto Georgetown Sands Road.  Duck officers made contact with the resident, who advised a maintenance worker had positioned the pump discharge hose in the wrong place. The discharge hose was positioned on the resident’s property when officers arrived.

  • Assist Person (Georgetown Sands Road)

On September 21, 2024, officers were dispatched to the above listed location in reference to an elderly male who didn’t know where he was.  The male was located and taken back to his wife by a Good Samaritan prior to the officer’s arrival.

  • Emergency Stormwater Pumping (Sea Breeze Drive)

On September 19 and 20, 2024, police personnel assisted with emergency stormwater pumping.
