TRAFFIC
- Officers issued 13 traffic enforcement actions during the week.
PROPERTY CHECKS
- 75 business checks were made.No unsecured doors were found.
- 2 extra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.
INCIDENTS OF INTEREST
- Larceny Prior (Willow Court)
On August 13, 2024, officers responded to a call for a stolen golf cart. Officers located the golf cart on Oyster Catcher Lane and made arrangements to get the golf cart back it its owner.
- Larceny (Duck Road)
On August 13, 2024, officers responded to a prior larceny and damage to property. Investigation revealed the irrigation system control panel was damaged and a control board stolen.
- Animal Calls
During the week, officers responded to three reports of sick racoons. Dare County SPCA was contacted about the calls and made aware of the reports. The SPCA advised that testing had been completed on several sick racoons in Dare County and rabies was not the culprit of the illness. The Dare County SPCA has subject matter jurisdiction over this matter.
TRAFFIC CRASHES
- 1380 Duck Road
On August 15, 2024, officers were notified of a crash involving a recycling truck and an SUV. The occupants of the vehicles sustained no injuries.
- Christopher Drive and Ocean Front Drive
On August 15, 2024, officers received a report of a low speed vehicle crash where the vehicle lost control and came to rest on its roof. The juvenile operator and the adult passenger in the front seat were not injured. An adult passenger riding in the rear facing seat was injured and transported to the hospital by Dare County EMS.
