Tropical Storm Chris Update 9:00 a.m. July 9, 2018

Tropical Storm Chris remains mostly stationary offshore North Carolina. The storm is expected to slowly strengthen and likely become a hurricane later Tuesday, July 10. Fortunately, he is expected to stay offshore without directly impacting our coast. However, the persistent wind and swell will continue bringing rough surf and dangerous rip currents along the beaches for most of the week.

The red “NO SWIMMING” flags are up today. PLEASE stay out of the water as the currents and surf are extremely dangerous. You put yourselves and the surf rescue guards at risk by entering the water. The flags are up for your safety.
