Town of Duck Welcomes New Deputy Town Clerk

At the September 2 council meeting, Kay Nickens was sworn in as Deputy Town Clerk. Nickens has been with the Town of Duck as a permit technician since November of 2017. A 2012 graduate of James Madison University, she holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Modern Foreign Language. Prior to joining the Town of Duck, Nickens was a case worker for Dare County Child Support.

Interim manager Joe Heard promoted Nickens to the position in September, noting that “Kay maintains a helpful and professional demeanor, shows excellent communication skills, and displays an ability to successfully juggle multiple tasks. After evaluating her skills and capabilities, I concluded that Kay is the right person to fulfill the duties of the Deputy Town Clerk and am glad to have her representing the Town of Duck.”
