The Town of Duck will kick off its Comprehensive and CAMA Land Use Plan update on Wednesday, May 22 with two events for the public. First, an overview of the project will be presented by planning consultants Stewart, Inc. at the May mid-month Council meeting at 1:00 p.m. in the Paul F. Keller Meeting Hall. Second, a project open house will be hosted on May 22 from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. in the First Floor Conference Room in Town Hall for residents, business owners, and property owners to learn more about the plan update process and how to get involved. If you are not able to participate at this time, the Town will be providing other opportunities throughout the planning process for you to share your thoughts and ideas through a community survey, public meetings, and other means.
These public events are the first stages of the process of updating the Town’s existing land use plan. This plan will be used by the Town to help guide the regulation of development and public investment of resources. It also communicates a cohesive community direction and provides a framework for making decisions. A land use plan often has a horizon of 20-30 years, but it’s important to review and update the plan in the interim to keep pace with changes to the Town and to ensure the vision still resonates with residents. The planning process is an opportunity for residents, business owners, property owners, and other stakeholders to tell their stories and help shape the distinct vision and unique identity for the community.
