The following is a recap of the November 1, 2023 Town Council Meeting:
- Council approved Resolution 23-13, a resolution of the Town Council of the Town of Duck, North Carolina, supporting Operation Green Light for Veterans
- Angie Gleason of Ripple Fiber gave a short presentation on her company and that fiber was coming to Duck in the near future
- Master Police Officer Jason Garrett was recognized for 15 years of service with the Duck Police Department
- Town Clerk Lori Ackerman was recognized for recently obtaining her Master Municipal Clerk designation
- Council held a quasi-judicial public hearing on SUP 23-009 for a special use permit application by CWI Sanderling Hotel, LP to amend prior existing approvals to allow the conversion of an existing indoor pool area to an assembly space and the addition of two new guest rooms, fitness center, decking/patio areas, and associated improvements. Council approved the application with a 5-0 vote. It was recommended that the applicant work with the Planning staff on a landscape plan
- Council approved a Notice of Extension of the Series 2021B variable rate Special Obligation Bond for the portion of the beach nourishment funding to be reimbursed by FEMA and authorized the Town Manager to execute the document
- Council authorized a public hearing for their December 6, 2023 meeting for Ordinance 23-14, an amendment to height measurement for Coastal High Hazard Areas in the definition of Building Height in Section 156.002 of the Town Code
- Council denied a request from the homeowners of 100 Beachcomber Court to waive building permit fees for the reconstruction of their home that was destroyed recently by a fire following a lightning strike
- Council had a closed session to approve 10 sets of closed session minutes that will remain sealed
- The majority of Council encouraged the public to vote on Tuesday, November 7th
- The next meeting will be the Regular meeting on Wednesday, December 6th at 6:00pm
