Surf Rescue July 13, 2018

At approximately 2:50 pm on Friday July 13th, 2018, Duck Surf Rescue, Duck Fire and Police, and Dare County EMS units were dispatched to the beach access at Bayberry Drive for five subjects in the water. Surf rescue units pulled all victims from the water. An adult female was unresponsive. CPR was initiated by units on scene and the patient was transferred to Nightingale for transport to Norfolk General Hospital. All other victims refused treatment at the scene.

Public Safety officials urge beach goers to swim near a lifeguard and to ask surf rescue personnel about ocean conditions near them. Know your limits; if the conditions exceed your capability, don’t swim.
