The Town of Duck is seeking a qualified and engaging individual to fill the position of Deputy Fire Chief. The Town of Duck is a thriving tourist destination with a year-round population of 400 and a seasonal population exceeding 25,000. The Deputy Fire Chief will provide overall support to the Fire Chief who oversees the operations of the Duck Fire Department, a motivated combination department. The Deputy Chief must be prepared to respond personally to fire and emergency calls for service, work varied shifts, supervise personnel both career and volunteer, as well as perform a variety of administrative and professional duties as outlined in the position description. Minimum requirements for this position include a high school diploma, or GED supplemented by any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university, with major course work in fire science, fire administration or related field; extensive experience in firefighting; and proven supervisory experience. Required Qualifications: NC Firefighter II, NC Hazmat Operations, NC Fire Officer I, NC Fire Instructor II, NC EMT-Basic, (or obtained through reciprocity), FEMA ICS 300/400.
