Pedestrian Plan Update- December 15, 2017

Construction on Phase I of the Town of Duck Comprehensive Pedestrian Plan will continue next week along the east side of Duck Road through Duck Village. Barnhill Contracting plans to install the final section of silt fencing north to Duck Deli to prevent erosion and sedimentation as grading work continues in the project area. Barnhill has started the initial grading and excavation work in the southern portion of the project area and will continue excavation in a northerly direction along the east side of Duck Road.

More extensive work is underway in the section of the pathway between Four Seasons and the crosswalk at Aqua Spa & Restaurant. This section of the project will consist of an eight-foot (8’) wide shared use path continuing the existing Duck Trail to the south. Barnhill Construction is preparing the stone base for this pathway so the asphalt surface can be laid on a good-weather day (hopefully, sometime in January). The preparations in this area are scheduled to be completed on Monday.

Barnhill Contracting plans to break from construction after December 22nd for the Christmas holiday. Construction work is planned to begin again on January 2nd. Barnhill does not anticipate beginning major construction work (including construction of retaining walls, more comprehensive grading, and paving) until early January 2018.
