The Town of Duck, North Carolina, located on the Outer Banks, is recruiting for the position of Permit Technician, and seeking an experienced, energetic, and creative individual to join our dedicated staff committed to maintaining high professional standards in support of the Town’s core values of Service, Ownership, Accountability, and Respect (SOAR).

Reporting directly to the Director of Community Development and Town Clerk, this position serves as a key member of the staff by performing administrative work to support planning and building inspection functions, coordinating the permitting process for the Town, as well as administrative work to support the Town Clerk.

A successful candidate displays excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to exercise independent judgment, and to work collaboratively to resolve issues while seeking innovative approaches to the work. The ability to obtain and maintain Municipal Clerk and Notary Public certifications is required. Graduation from high school is required as well as considerable administrative support experience, preferably in local government. The salary hiring range is $50,610 – $78,446, negotiable depending on qualifications, with excellent benefits.
