Art Exhibit Opening Reception February 8: Mary Edwards

Mary Edwards taught herself to draw in the second grade. The love and passion for art continued growing throughout childhood as she collected her sketches and expanded her talent until watercolors became her passion. “The realism of Andrew Wyeth and J. S. Sargent’s watercolors inspired me to paint those people, pets, and places familiar to me.” She attended art school in San Francisco, CA then obtained a BA in Fine Arts from George Mason University.

Mary is a signature member of the Watercolor Society of North Caroline (WSNC) and has served on their Board of Directors as Eastern Region Direction. Many of her awards are from the WSNC and eastern North Carolina art shows and competitions. She is also an active member of the Dare County Arts Council where she has taught classes and workshops.
