Fido Friendly Magazine has recognized The Town of Duck as one of its top ten fido-friendly beaches in the United States. The magazine honored Duck because of its intimate, private-access beaches and no-leash laws (although dogs must be under the watchful eye of a guardian!)
Duck was named alongside towns in California, Florida, and Illinois.
The Duck Town Park is also a great place for dogs to take a stroll, although they must be on a leash. Specially-designed, dog-friendly water fountains are available near the playground and on the Duck Trail near Four Seasons for our canine friends. Dogs may attend Town events at the Park with their owners as long as they are properly restrained and well-behaved.
The Town has worked with the SPCA to assemble a safe pet vacation kit to assist visiting pet owners. The kit is available at the Town’s Public Safety Building or by calling (252) 261-1112.
FIDO Friendly magazine was founded in 2001 as the Travel & Lifestyle magazine for you and your dog. Each bimonthly issue can be found at Borders, Barnes & Noble, Hastings and Fido-friendly hotels nationwide. Now in its 10th year, each issue includes hotel and destination reviews, health and wellness topics, dog training advice and the latest fashion trends.
