After taking a break for the summer season, work began in earnest to complete the storm water improvements on NC 12 (Duck Road) in the southern portion of the Town of Duck on Monday, September 13, 2010.
For the week of September 13, 2010, crews under contract with the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) are removing the road surface within the project area. The project area extends from Bias Lane to Seahawk Drive in the southern part of Duck.
During this week, please expect traffic delays as Duck Road will be reduced to one lane through portions of the project area. Work will occur Monday through Friday, during daylight hours. It is expected that the road removal process will be completed by end of day Thursday, September 16, 2010. However, it may go through Friday, September 17, 2010.
Project construction is expected to continue through December and resume again in early spring. It is anticipated that there will be delays and temporary lane closures during the project period. The road through the project area will be an unmarked stone base, with center line drum delineators. Please observe the reduced speed limits posted, drive slowly and cautiously, and plan for additional travel time.
