At their meeting held on May 15, 2013, the Town of Duck Council authorized the Town Manager to proceed with the development of a scope of work with Coastal Planning and Engineering related to a long-term beach erosion management project in the Town for the area north of the Army Corps Field Research Facility. Specifically, the Town Council authorized the development of a scope of work for the permitting and engineering of a long term dredge and fill project, up to a 50-year storm damage reduction project. It is anticipated that the Town will work to permit the most comprehensive project, but will likely only be able to construct a somewhat less robust project due to funding limitations. The Town Council also authorized the development of a scope of work for the permitting and engineering of a dune fill project to have on hand to provide short term protection to properties, if needed, while the long term dredge and fill project is being permitted.
The final Erosion & Shoreline Management Feasibility Study prepared by Coastal Planning and Engineering is available here. In addition, the power point presentation given to Town Council on May 15 of the final study is available here. The video of the presentation to council is now available here and part two of the presentation is available here, and also on the Town Council page .
