Opening Reception for “Capturing the Skies of the Outer Banks” Rotating Art Show
February 3 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Born in Pennsylvania, Catherine Hamill moved to the Outer Banks in 2008. Her passion for art began with photography in 1975 and branched out to oil painting in 1993. Her paintings are now exhibited throughout the United States and Europe, and she is represented in many galleries, restaurants, and inns in North Carolina, Connecticut, and Block Island, Rhode Island.
Catherine has traveled all over the world to paint. In 2003, while still living in Connecticut, she founded and managed the Firehouse Art Gallery at Walnut Beach, Milford, Connecticut, which is still thriving as part of the Milford Arts Council. In 2009, she opened the “Washed Ashore” gallery in Manteo which featured her paintings, prints, photography, and cards.
Specializing in lighthouses, landscapes, and seascapes, Catherine likes to paint on location to get the feeling of the subject to come through in her work. Private commissions are her specialty and she has participated in several gallery exhibits on the Outer Banks.
The Capturing the Skies of the Outer Banks show will be on display Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. February 2 through April 25 in the first floor Conference Room at Duck Town Hall, 1200 Duck Road.
