*New* Storytellers
June 18 @ 10:00 am – 11:00 am
We are excited to offer a brand new program to the Duck Amphitheater this year. For three mornings during the summer, we are bringing in local and regional Storytellers to regale you with stories from shipwrecks, to fairy tales, to origin stories.
On June 18, we welcome James Charlet, a.k.a. Keeper James, to present his program “The Dailey-Dailey: Dramatic Rescues of the Barketine Ephriam Williams & Schooner A.B. Goodman by Station Keeper Benjamin Dailey”.
Come hear about the direct predecessor of today’s Coast Guard, the United States Life-Saving Service (1872-1915). During the event you will also hear the story of the barkentine Ephriam Williams followed by the rescue of the schooner A.B. Goodman against all odds.
Signed copies of Keeper James’ book Shipwrecks of the Outer Banks: Dramatic Rescues and Fantastic Wrecks in the Graveyard of the Atlantic, Globe Pequot Press, 2020 will be available for purchase at the event.
