Lunch & Learn Sessions Scheduled by Duck Board of Adjustment

FreeThe Duck Board of Adjustment members invites the public to join them for “Lunch & Learn” sessions. This series of online training sessions uses modules prepared by the UNC School of Government. The topics all relate to development processes considered by the Board of Adjustment and Town Council (quasi-judicial decisions, appeals, variances, conditional uses). Making Quasi-Judicial Decisions – Quasi-judicial decisions are made by Boards of Adjustment for variances and appeals and Town Councils for conditional use permits. This training module outlines the factors to consider when making these types of decisions and setting conditions as part of the decision.
Conducting an Evidentiary Hearing – Evidentiary hearings are held as part of the review process for quasi-judicial decisions by Boards of Adjustment and Town Councils. This training module explores the process and roles of the Board of Adjustment and Town Council when conducting an evidentiary hearing.
