TRAFFIC

  • Officers issued 9 traffic enforcement actions during the week. 

PROPERTY CHECKS

  • 107 business checks were made. 1 unsecured door was found.
  • Noextra patrols were requested by out-of-town property owners this week.      

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

  • Injury to Property (Duck Road)

On May 21, 2024, officers responded to a report of a broken vehicle window. The investigation revealed the damage to be unintentional and caused by debris thrown from a weed eater.

  • Fraud (Settlers Lane)

On May 24, 2024, officers received a report of fraud.  The victim reported receiving an email from the Small Business Association about a loan that was secured in his name. The victim contacted the SBA to inquire and was informed that a police report was needed before any information could be released.  Further investigation pending.

  • Larceny (Schooner Ridge Drive)

On May 25, 2024, officers responded to a prior larceny. The victim reported sometime between May 20 and May 24, unknown subjects stole a copper weathervane, two outdoor rugs, and beach cart.  The weathervane was described as a sailboat.

  • PWC Collision (Brandon Court)

On May 26, 2024, officers received a report of a jet ski collision. Upon arrival, one subject was injured and was already ashore, after being brought in by bystanders. Emergency medical staff arrived and tended to the injured party. North Carolina Wildlife Resource Officers were in the area at the time of the collision and quickly responded to investigate the collision, as that agency has subject matter jurisdiction over boating collisions.

  • Suspicious Person (Jay Crest Road)

On the night of May 26, 2024, officers responded to a suspicious person knocking at the door of a residence.  The subject was dropped off at the residence with luggage and stated he was supposed to be staying there.  It was determined the subject transposed the house number and was going to 102 Jay Crest Road.

TRAFFIC CRASHES

  • Duck Road / 1188 Duck Road

On May 25, 2024, a vehicle was turning north from the parking lot at 1188 Duck Road when a vehicle traveling southbound in the center turn lane struck the turning vehicle. No injuries were reported.
