Town Seeking Damage Assessment Volunteers

The Town of Duck is seeking volunteers to serve as members of a team assisting the community in assessing damage to buildings and structures resulting from significant storms.

Following storms that cause significant damage to public and private property, the Town of Duck is required to prepare a preliminary damage assessment within 24 hours.  To help facilitate this task, the Town is divided into damage assessment zones.  A team of at least two people, which can include Town staff members and community volunteers, is assigned to observe and document damage within each damage assessment zone.

Knowledge of building construction practices may be helpful but is not required.  A small amount of training will be necessary to familiarize team members with the damage assessment software.

If you are interested in serving the Duck community in this capacity, please contact Director of Community Development Joe Heard at or (252)255-1234.
