Barnhill Contracting has informed the Town of Duck of the company plans to begin limited tree and vegetation removal on Monday, October 23rd in preparation for construction of Phase I of bicycle and pedestrian improvements in Duck Village. The bulk of the Phase I construction will take place over the late-Fall/Winter months, with an expected completion date sometime in late-April/early-May 2018.The Phase I of the project is located along the east side of Duck Road between the existing Duck Trail north of Four Seasons Lane and Duck Deli. Planned improvements during this phase of the project include a dedicated bike lane, landscaped strip, and sidewalk along the east side of Duck Road. This phase will also involve utility relocation, installation/enhancement of reflective crosswalks over Duck Road, installation of a gateway median south of Duck Village, and installation of a pedestrian island/median in the crosswalk at Sunset Grille north of Duck Village. There will be portions of the trail that will be closed during the project.
Beginning Monday, October 23, 2017 crews will be moving along in a south to north direction beginning at Four Season clearing trees, brush, landscaping and other small miscellaneous obstructions to include posts and fences and the like . The contractor anticipates that this will take approximately 3 days barring any equipment or weather delays.
The following week, beginning October 30, 2017 they will be removing wooden retaining walls from one end moving along to the other end as utility conflicts will allow. They may need to skip over a few walls until utilities can be relocated. This schedule is all subject to change so we will provide additional updates as they become available.
