The Liberty Island dredge arrived in the Town of Duck on Tuesday, May 23 and commenced operations around 10:20 p.m. with pumping onto the beach happening around 11:30 p.m. It takes approximately 45 minutes to pump the material from the dredge onto the beach. The dredge will then return to the borrow area to refill and the process will repeat itself.
The contractor is currently building the initial area near Widgeon, which includes the “pad” necessary for the turn of the pipe. Once this is completed, which should be in about a day, they will incrementally move the equipment that is currently staged south of Widgeon and it will follow the project as they progress to the north. Be sure to continue checking the Project map on the Town and More Beach to Love websites to track the construction progress.
