The Dodge and Padre Islands are working well together at the North end of the project zone. They have been alternating pumping since around 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 1. The pad has been completed and the shore pipeline has been flipped to begin pumping North at this location. The construction zone for this end remains from Ocean Pines Dr. to around Sound Sea Ave. Please see the progress map here for updates on construction zone movement.
Great Lakes installed the subline this morning around Dianne St. for the Dodge and Padre Island to use later in the project. Access around Dianne St. will not be affected until the Dredges come on-site to begin pumping.
The Liberty Island, the dredge working at the South end of the project, is still down for repairs. Currently, we do not have an estimate on when the dredge will be ready to work again. When that information becomes available, it will be posted in the daily updates. At this time, all southern beach accesses in the Liberty Island zone are open. Equipment is still present on the beach North of the N. Snow Geese access and blocked off with construction fencing. However, there is a walkway behind this area for safe passage.
It is important to keep in mind that all schedules are tentative and subject to change as weather and mechanical issues may arise. GLDD will continue to do their best to keep beach access open and finish as quickly as possible.
