The Liberty Island Dredge is anticipated to begin May 23 at Widgeon Road, moving North approximately 1500 feet, between Canvasback and Sprigtail Drive.
UPDATE 5/25/2017 – Great Lakes Dredge and Dock has announced that they will now be moving North a shorter but undetermined distance before moving back to the Widgeon subline to finish the Southern boundary of the project area. Once the Southern boundary is complete, the crew will access whether to finish the originally planned Northern section with the Liberty Island dredge, or to allow the Dodge Island and Padre Island dredges to finish the section. (Highlighted area on map is not to scale).
Once the Northern section of the Widgeon Road subline is complete, the dredge will work South from Widgeon Road to the Southern Boundary of the project area.
The Dodge Island and Padre Island Dredges will begin in late May at Ocean Bay Blvd, moving North to complete the Northern end with taper of the project area.
Upon completion, they will then remove the shore pipeline and return to Ocean Bay, working south 1500 feet to approximately north of Sea Tern.
Once the area from the Ocean Bay Blvd subline is complete, the Dodge Island and Padre Island will then move to a newly installed subline at Diane Street. The dredging will start out moving North from Diane Street about 1500 feet to meet up with the already completed area.
Once the Northern section of the Diane Street subline is complete, the dredge will work South from Diane Street to meet up with the section completed by the Liberty Island Dredge.
UPDATE 5/25/2017 – Upon assessment of completion at the Widgeon Drive subline, the Dodge Island and Padre Island dredges may be moving a slightly greater distance than originally planned to meet up with the completed section North of the Widgeon subline.
The project is expected to be complete by Early July.
