PROVISIONS
A. Accuracy
The Town strives to present current and accurate information on this Website. While the content of official documents posted on this website is intended to be an accurate representation, the official documents themselves are available for review at the Town Office. For any questions concerning official documents, please contact the Town Manager's office. For all content other than official documents, while every attempt is made to ensure accuracy, the Town of Duck does not guarantee the accuracy or currency of information posted here.
B. Email Comments on Public Hearings
Comments on public hearing items that are submitted by email will automatically become part of the official record of such proceedings, in order to provide an opportunity for public comment for persons with disabilities, and for persons who are physically unable to attend public hearings because of illness, disability, or geographic distance from the hearing. Persons wishing to comment on public hearing items should attend the public hearing and express themselves in person at the hearing, or if the notice of a particular hearing allows written comments, then comments may be submitted in that manner or via email. As with public hearing comments that are presented in person, those who submit written or emailed comments should identify themselves by name and address and, to be included in the record, the email must be submitted before the starting time of the public hearing. The Town of Duck reserves the right to exclude emails from the public record where the sender has not provided his or her name and address, or where the email is received after the starting time of the public hearing.
C. Notices of Public Hearings
When the Town places notices of items on this Website, scheduled for upcoming public meeting or hearing, it does so only to facilitate public access to such information, as a supplement to the legally required methods of posting notices.
D. Email to Town Officials and Employees
Persons submitting email comments or questions to the Town of Duck's officials or employees should be aware that the Town cannot guarantee, nor does it represent that such communications will remain private or confidential. Similar to mailed or delivered comments, comments received via email may become subject to public disclosure under the North Carolina Public Records Act and/or part of the discovery procedure in a civil lawsuit.
E. Linking Policy
This Website links only to the Websites of other governmental entities, and not-for-profit civic organizations, and not-for-profit organizations who provide services to the Town of Duck, such as the Duck Volunteer Fire Department.
The Town Manager's office will grant linking requests based on the above criteria, and determination of suitability.
F. Offsite Links
The Town is not responsible for the content, views, opinions or factual representations of any Web pages that are not contained on the townofduck.com servers.
