Second Annual Duck Yuletide Celebration – Santa Arrives!

The Town of Duck, in cooperation with the local business community, is hosting the second annual Duck Yuletide Celebration.  Join us on Friday, November 30, 2012 and Saturday, December 1, 2012 for a Town-wide celebration of Yuletide cheer!  For the most up-to-date information on Duck’s Yuletide Celebration, visit the Yuletide Celebration page of this website.

The Town of Duck Crab Pot Tree

 

On Friday, November 30, 2012, Duck merchants will keep their doors open late for shoppers to find the perfect gift!  There will be sales, refreshments, and holiday entertainment throughout the Town of Duck.  Details on specials and entertainment will be announced soon.

In addition, Duck restaurants will host one of their famous Duck Tapas Crawls on Friday, November 30, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.  Participating restaurants will serve special dishes and holiday cheer for one set price that is sure to please every palate.  Participants and menus will be announced soon as well. Visit any or all of the restaurants on the Crawl.  No tickets are required.

On Saturday, December 1, 2012, the Town of Duck will hold its Yuletide Celebration on the Duck Town Green, 1200 Duck Road, beginning at 3:00 p.m.  Duck Jazz Festival veterans Emme St. James & Her Jazz Gentlemen will return to Duck to perform hits from their recently released holiday CD, “Christmas Cabaret”.

Santa Claus will make a special appearance as he trades in his sleigh for an unforgetable arrival on a Duck Fire Truck.  The event will feature the announcement of the winners of the Town-wide “Business Decorating Contest” and will culminate in the lighting of the Town Crab Pot Tree.   An art exhibit and reception featuring the works of Duck artist Fred Vallade will be on display in the Duck Town Hall meeting room.  Duck restaurants will be providing light refreshments in exchange for food or cash donations to the Beach Food PantryClick here for a current list of items needed by the Beach Food Pantry.

Restaurants and businesses throughout Town will also keep the Duck Yuletide Celebration going throughout the day and into the evening on Saturday, December 1, 2012 with special promotions, holiday music, and refreshments.

Duck businesses are invited to participate in a holiday decorating contest.  Stores will decorate their establishments with festive holiday decorations and lights, which will be available for all to view throughout the Yuletide Celebration and the Holiday season.  To be eligible, businesses must notify the Town of Duck via email at info@townofduck.com by Monday, November 19, 2012 and provide the location of the decor to assist with judging.  All decorations must be in place by Saturday, November 24, 2012 to be considered for award judging.  Awards will be presented at the Town Crab Pot Tree lighting on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
