Weekly Police Report

March 9th, 2015 – March 15th, 2015

TRAFFIC

Officers issued 41 enforcement actions.

 

PROPERTY CHECKS

Officers completed 55 random residential house checks and found 0

unsecured homes.

 

Officers conducted 41 extra patrols of vacant residences at the request

of homeowners out-of-town.

 

BUSINESS CHECKS

124 Business checks were made over the week.

 

OFFICER ACHIEVEMENT

Sergeant Clark completed the FBI Command College.

 

INCIDENTS OF INTEREST

Arrest (1171 Duck Road Fishbone’s Rawbar and Grill)

26 year old male was found inside the restaurant’s outdoor cooler

preparing to take food. When confronted by restaurant staff, the suspect

fled in his vehicle. Southern Shores Police located the suspect heading

south on Duck Road and stopped and held the suspect for Duck Police.

The suspect was escorted back to the scene where he was questioned.

The suspect, who was found to be a prior employee of the business,

admitted to entering the cooler and attempting to take food. The suspect

was arrested and charged with felony breaking and entering and attempted

larceny. The suspect is being held at the Dare County Detention Center in

lieu of a $4,000 bond.

Accident (Duck Road at Pintail Drive)

A passenger vehicle with two occupants was stopped on Duck Road

waiting to make a left turn into a private driveway when a vehicle

approaching from the rear failed to see the stopped vehicle before colliding

into it. The two occupants from the stopped vehicle were transported by

Dare County EMS with non life threatening injuries.

Accident – Hit & Run (Duck Road at Widgeon Drive)

A black Ford pickup truck crossed the center line and side swiped a vehicle

heading in the opposite direction. The side view mirrors were knocked off

of both vehicles. The suspect vehicle fled the scene. This incident remains

under investigation.
