THROUGHOUT TOWN: Dogs are required to be vaccinated for rabies, collared, and controlled by a leash (10 feet or less) or restraint throughout Town.
AT THE PARK: Dogs are allowed to take a stroll through our Town Park, although they must be on a leash. Please clean up after your dog. There are dog waste receptacles and bags provided throughout the park's grounds. Additionally, near the playground, is a water fountain that also has a specially-designed water fountain for our canine friends. Dogs may attend Town events with their owners as long as they are properly restrained and well-behaved.
ON THE BEACH: The only place where dogs may play unleashed is on the Town’s beaches, although they should be under the watchful eye and control of a guardian. Dogs are allowed on Duck’s beaches year-round. As a courtesy, remember to clean up after your pet and do not bury pet waste in the sand or throw it in the ocean as it is not permitted. Also be aware that during the heat of the day a dog’s paws can burn on the hot sand and he/she can become easily dehydrated by the intense heat or by drinking salt water.
ON VACATION: If you bring your pet with you to Duck this year, please remember to have proper identification on your pet at all times. Pets frequently get loose while traveling. The Town has worked with the SPCA to assemble a safe pet vacation kit to assist visiting pet owners. The kit is available at the Town’s Public Safety Building or by calling (252) 261-1112.
4TH OF JULY PARADE: Dogs may walk, along with their owners, in the Town's annual Fourth of July Parade. For more information on the parade, click here. To participate, please contact Outer Barks in the Scarborough Lane Shoppes at (252) 261-6279.
