Motorized Personal Watercraft:
In the Currituck Sound: Motorized personal watercraft may be used in the Currituck Sound between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., and must be at least 900 feet from the shore. Please obey all right-of-way, speed limit, and other rules while enjoying your time on the sound. There are no public sound launch points within the Town of Duck for motorized personal watercraft.
In the Atlantic Ocean: The use of motorized person watercraft is prohibited on the Town's beach.
Sound Access: There are two publlic sound access points within The Town of Duck. One is at the Duck Town Park where a kayak/canoe launch is available for the launching of kayaks and canoes and other non-motorized items. It should only be used for this purpose; and is not to be used to enter the Currituck Sound for any other purpose or to dock any motorized vehicles.
The other sound access is at the northern end of the Town Boardwalk where this a brand-new four slip boat pier which is designed for temporary mooring. This boat pier is not to be used for fishing, crabbing, or entering the sound for any other purpose.
There is no other public sound access within the Town limits. A few of the watersports shops along the sound have private access and rent numerous types of non-motorized and motorized vehicles in which to enjoy the Currituck sound.
Beach Access: The Town maintains no public beach access. Access to our Town beach is limited to residents, renters, and their guests.
