The Town of Duck is pleased to announce, that in cooperation with the United States Postal Service, a pictorial postmark commemorating the 10-Year Anniversary of the incorporation of the Town will be available beginning on Tuesday, May 1, 2012. The postmark will be available at the Duck Post Office, 1245 Duck Road, throughout the month of May 2012.
The postmark may be obtained in the following ways:
- It will be available on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at the Duck Administrative Office as part of the “Celebrating Duck’s Past, Present, and Future” Exhibit from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Duck Administrative Office, 1200 Duck Road. To obtain a postmark, please bring a stamped envelope or postcard so that the cancellation may be issued on site during this event. This is the ONLY time that the postmark will be available at the Duck Town Office.
- The postmark will be available for commemorative purposes and outgoing mail at the Duck Post Office, 1245 Duck Road, from May 1, 2012 through May 31, 2012 during normal business hours. Postmarks can be received in person or via mail request. All requests (whether in person or by mail) must include a stamped envelope or postcard bearing at least the minimum First Class Mail postage. Items submitted for postmark may not include postage issued after the date of the requested postmark. Such items will be returned unserviced. Customers wishing to obtain a postmark should affix stamps to any envelope or postcard of their choice, address the envelope or postcard to themselves or others, insert a card of postcard thickness in envelopes for sturdiness, and tuck in the flap. Place the envelope or postcard in a larger envelope and address it to: Pictorial Postmarks, US Postal Service, Duck Station, 1245 Duck Road, Duck, North Carolina 27949. Customers can also send stamped envelopes and postcards without addresses for postmark, as long as they supply a larger envelope with adequate postage and their return address. After applying the pictorial postmark, the Postal Service returns the items (with or without addresses) under an addressed protective cover. Numerous activities are planned to celebrate the Town’s 10-Year anniversary beginning with the unveiling of artwork and photographs celebrating “Duck’s Past, Present, and Future” on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. A reception and ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m. at the Duck Administrative Offices, 1200 Duck Road. The compilation of artwork, photographs, and memorabilia was assembled by the Town’s Wall Décor Committee which is comprised on Town residents and homeowners, and will be on display throughout the year.
The events season kicks off on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. on the Duck Town Green, 1200 Duck Road, with a special celebration concert by The Rhythm in Blue Jazz Ensemble of the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band. It continues throughout the summer with the annual 4th of July Parade, summer concerts, various children’s activities, and culminates in the 6th Annual Duck Jazz Festival on Sunday, October 7, 2012. All events are free and open to the public.
The Duck Town Council will meet on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the Duck Meeting Hall, 1200 Duck Road. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. For the agenda, click here.

Nitrograss, a western North Carolina-based bluegrass band, has been added to the summer Tuesday night “Duck Unplugged” Singer/Songwriter Series.
