Attached is the agenda and back up materials for the March 14, 2008, Municipal Property Master Plan Advisory Committee Meeting. The items included in the agenda are listed below.
1. Call to Order
The Chairman will call the committee to order.
2. Minutes Click to view Draft Minutes
The Committee will consider the minutes from the August 7, 2007, Meeting. The minutes from the meeting are attached. Action Item: approve the minutes.
3. Construction Progress Update
Town Staff and VHB will provide the Committee with an update on the construction of the Phase I and Phase II. Construction should be nearing completion by the meeting date. No action required.
4. Overview of Phase III
The Town has received a grant from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau in the amount of $125,000 (with a required match of $125,000) for the construction of an amphitheater at the Town Park. This funding will be available after July 1, 2008. It is necessary to begin the planning and design of the amphitheater to ensure that construction can begin in the fall of 2008. A small area has been cleared of underbrush at the location of the proposed amphitheater in the Park to allow for a better perspective of the terrain. Staff and VHB will discuss the next steps in the project. Attached are some samples of similar size amphitheaters. Action: per discussion.
5. Update on Town Hall Design
Town Staff and VHB, will provide the Committee with the latest information on the proposed Town Hall design. It is anticipated that these discussions will be focused on the proposed location of the Town Hall and how it will fit into the existing park facility. It is not anticipated that actual conceptual designs will be available for the meeting. Action: per discussion.
6. Discussion of Interpretive Signage
As a part of the overall park design, interpretive signage of flora and fauna, as well as other types of interpretive signage was anticipated. With the near completion of Phase I and Phase II of the project it is now the appropriate time to begin discussions on the types, location, etc. of interpretative signage. Attached is a chapter on interpretive signage produce by the U.S. Forest Service and some samples of signage. Action pending discussion.
8. Other Issues
The Committee will discuss any other issues brought forward by Committee members.
