Duck Jazz Festival Brings a Week of Music and Events to Duck!

Wednesday, October 3, 2012
• “Hump Day Kick Off” - Aqua Restaurant, 1174 Duck Road at 6:00 p.m. Open mic with Broughton Aycock. Featuring food and drink specials.
Thursday, October 4, 2012
• “Special Live Concert” – Scarborough Faire Shopping Village, 1177 Duck Road. From 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Mojo Collins with his band Triple Vision will be performing a Jazzy Blues concert in the courtyard. Collins is a North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship for Songwriting Recipient. Come check out the music and the shops. The concert is free. Appetizers, wine, and cocktails will be available for purchase at Elizabeth’s Cafe’.
• “Music on the Patio” - Coastal Cravings, 1209 Duck Road. This event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will feature live music outside by The Break on the patio. In the case of inclement weather, music will be moved indoors.
• “Jazz on the Patio” - Roadside Bar and Grill, 1193 Duck Road. Outer Banks favorites, Laura Martier, Dan Martier, and Joe Mapp will be on the patio performing from 6:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

• “13th Annual Holiday Open House” - Urban Cottage, Scarborough Faire Shopping Village, 1177 Duck Road. This event will be held from Friday, October 5, 2012 through Sunday, October 7, 2012. A festive collection of holiday decor and gifts will be available, along with daily “Trunk Shows” featuring local artists. Refreshments and hors d’oeuvres will be served each day. Store hours are 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. daily.
• “Shrimp & Beer Fest” – Wee Winks Square, 1216 Duck Road. Dockside ‘N Duck Seafood Market and Sweet T’s Coffee, Beer, and Wine will host this first-ever Duck Jazz Festival event. The event is scheduled from noon to 4:00 p.m. and will feature live entertainment by Frozen Head & the Squirrels. The concert is free; there will be a cost for the “Shrimp & Beer” tasting which is $20 for all you can eat shrimp; $8 for a sampletr, and $5 draft beer.
• “Sip and Sample” – Tommy’s Gourmet Market, 1242 Duck Road from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Patrons can sample wines and microbrews, as well as various appetizers. The tasting is free.
• “Music in the Yard” - The Blue Point, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops. This event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Music will be performed by Dan McIssac on the lawn area.
• “Music on the Patio” - Coastal Cravings, 1209 Duck Road. This event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will feature live music outside on the patio. Performing will be Joe Mapp & The Coordinates. In the case of inclement weather, music will be moved indoors.
• “Hanky Panky on the Blanky” – Aqua Restaurant, 1174 Duck Road from 6:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. Music will abound all evening long. Set to perform are Mo & Ron; Pillow Talk with Dan Martier featuring Laura Martier, Mick Vaughn, Charlie Kilpatrick, & Joe Mapp; and MC DJ Al Key. A special jazz festival band appearance is also scheduled. Pajamas are acceptable attire! Reservations are required for patrons dining in.

• “Kellogg’s is Having a Sale” - Kellogs Supply Company, 1201 Duck Road, is having a sale for Jazz Fest weekend. Halloween merchandise is 30% off and there will be end of summer clearance on select items up to 75% off.
• “Art Show” - Scarborough Faire Shopping Village, 1177 Duck Road. Beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Scarborough Faire Courtyard, local artists will be displaying their colorful creations for viewing and purchase. Come check out the artwork and the shops. Elizabeth’s Cafe’ will be featuring Octoberfest-themed foods and beverages for purchase.
• “Shop For a Cause” - Life’s a Beach, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month, the store is hosting a shop & share to benefit the Breast Cancer Charities of America. Come join the fun and support a great cause.
• “Wave Pizza Take Out Specials” - Wave Pizza, Osprey Landing, 1190 Duck Road. A 12″, two topping pizza is $9.95 and “Mix Six Beer’ is 15% off. Both specials are for take-out orders ONLY.
• “Oyster Roast” - Roadside Bar and Grill, 1193 Duck Road. The event, which will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., will be in the restaurant’s back parking lot featuring live music by Joe Mapp and the Coordinates with a special guest jazz festival musical appearance. The music is free, although there will be a cost for the tasting. Parking will be available at the Duck Town Park’s northern parking lot only (by the playground) until 8:00 p.m. Remember to bring chairs.
• “Wine and Tapas” - Coastal Cantina, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops. Enjoy jazz, wine, and the beautiful Currituck Sound sunset. The event is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Duck Jazz Festival artists The Fuzz Band will perfrom! The music is free, although there will be cost for the tasting. A full menu will also be available.
• “Jazzy Sunset” - The Blue Point, 1240 Duck Road in the Waterfront Shops. Duck Jazz Festival Veterans Laura Martier, Dan Martier, and Ruth Wyand will be performing beginning at 6:00 p.m., along with a special appearance by a Duck Jazz Festival Artist. The concert is free. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available outside. Reservations are required for patrons dining in.
• “Music on the Patio” - Coastal Cravings, 1209 Duck Road. This event will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will feature live music outside on the patio by local act Aquarium. In the case of inclement weather, music will be moved indoors.
