WATER CUSTOMERS IN KITTY HAWK, SOUTHERN SHORES, AND DUCK ASKED TO CONSERVE WATER
Due to a water main break caused by a lightning strike in the vicinity of the Duck Research Pier, the Dare County Water Department is requesting water users to conserve water in the communities of Kitty Hawk, Southern Shores, and Duck until elevated water storage levels can be returned to normal operating levels.

The leak has been isolated and crews are making repairs. All pumping equipment is operating at its capacity. Water conservation efforts will reduce demands and shorten the time needed to restore the tank levels. We expect the levels to be restored by Friday morning, August 20, 2010.
