Town of Duck Announces its Holiday Community Appearance Award Winners

On Friday, December 18, 2009, the Town of Duck presented its 2009 Holiday Community Appearance Awards. The awards are designed to recognize homeowners, community associations, and business owners in their efforts to enhance, improve, and beautify the Town of Duck.

The Commercial holiday decorating award was presented to:
• Duck Village Outfitters

Residential holiday decorating awards were presented to:
• Ronald Allred; tenant Donnie Smith: 104 Sound Sea Avenue
• Jack and Patty Wander: 119 Sandcastle Court
• Pat Scarlett: 102 Mallard Drive

Neighborhood holiday decorating awards were presented as follows:
• Bias Shores and Carolina Dunes Subdivisions

The Community Appearance Awards program is administered by the Town’s Community Improvement Committee (CIC) and includes two separate award programs. The Holiday Awards Program is part of the Seasonal Community Appearance Awards Program presented by the Town’s CIC with more seasonal awards expected to be awarded during various times throughout 2010.

The second award program administered by the CIC is the Annual Community Appearance Award honoring those who are helping to preserve the Town’s unique character. These awards will be given in mid 2010 at an awards ceremony during a regular Town Council meeting.

The CIC was created by the Duck Town Council on February 2, 2005 to preserve the Town’s unique character for present and future generations. Current Town of Duck CIC members are: Allen Lehew, Duck’s Cottage; Lisa Mann, Beach Essentials; and George Grinnan, Resident.
