Duck Police Department Currently Accepting Applications for Patrol Officer Position – Applications are Now Closed

The Duck Police Department is in the process of updating the applicant pool for the position of Patrol Officer.  Applicants must hold a North Carolina probationary or general law enforcement certification and possess knowledge of police methods, practices, and procedures, as well as strong analytical, leadership, and administrative skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to comprehend and carry out oral and written instructions; ability to deal professionally, courteously, and fairly with the public; ability to analyze situations and to adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action with due regard to surrounding hazards and circumstances; proficiency in the use of firearms and operation of police vehicles; and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with associates and the general public.  In addition, the successful candidate will possess problem-solving skills and considerable knowledge not only within traditional law enforcement areas, but also in a broad range public service matters, and will be able to use these skills to make the right decisions based not only on the law, but the intent of the law as it relates to our mission and goals both short and long term.
