ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY PARADE
Duck’s Fifth Annual Fourth of July Parade will be held on Friday, July 3, 2009 at 9:00 a.m., with an after-event following at the Duck Town Park featuring music by Ruth Wyand & Friends. PLEASE NOTE that the parade is being held on Friday, July 3, 2009 which is the designated legal holiday so as not to conflict with weekend summer traffic. The one-mile parade route is the same annually and begins at Scarborough Lane and continues down Ocean Way and then Christopher Drive. Families, subdivisions, and local businesses may participate in the parade. For premium viewing spots, it is recommended to arrive 1/2 hour before the parade begins to stake out a spot. YOGA/DEEP STRETCH ON THE TOWN GREEN
A Basic Yoga/Deep Stretch class will be held on the Duck Town Green on Mondays at 7:30 a.m. from April 6 through October 12. An instructor from Outer Banks Yoga and Pilates will conduct the class. The class is geared to all fitness levels. Participants should bring a yoga/Pilates mat or towel and water.
TAI CHI ON THE TOWN GREEN
Tai Chi will be held on the Duck Town Green on Tuesdays at 7:30 a.m. from April 7 through October 13. Tai Chi is a gentle art of health and well-being for people of all ages and health conditions and incorporates slow, graceful movements to increase strength and flexibility, and improves balance and circulation. Julia Daniel from Outer Banks Yoga and Pilates is the instructor. Participants should bring water.
PILATES ON THE TOWN GREEN
“Fit and Flexible” a beginning Pilates class will be held on the Duck Town Green on Thursdays at 7:30 a.m. from April 2 through October 15. The class is geared to all fitness levels. Participants should bring a yoga/Pilates mat or towel for the class. Patti Waller of Turning Point Fitness is the instructor.
AUTHOR DISCUSSION SERIES
New for 2009, is an Author Discussion Series coordinated by the Town in conjunction with Duck's Cottage Book Store. This six-week series will be held on Fridays from July 10 through August 14 at 10:00 a.m. at the Town Picnic Shelter and will feature regional and local authors who will focus on Outer Banks topics including history, food, and culture. Following the discussion, attendees are invited back to Duck's Cottage for author signings. The current schedule is:

CHILDREN'S STORY TIME
Bring the children for story time sponsored by Duck’s two book stores: Duck’s Cottage and Island Book Store. Story time will be held in the Town’s picnic shelter at 10:00 a.m. on Thursdays beginning July 2 and continue through Thursday, August 6. Story Time is geared to children between the ages of three (3) and seven (7).
SUMMER MUSIC SERIES
This popular evening concert series returns for its third season. For six weeks, local musical groups will take the stage at the Duck Town Park gazebo. The concerts are from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. and are on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from June 30 through August 6. The current schedule of performances is:

3RD ANNUAL JAZZ FESTIVAL
Duck’s Third Annual Jazz Festival will be held on Sunday, October 11, 2009 from 11 a.m. to dusk on the Duck Town Green. The 2009 feature performer is urban smooth jazz saxophonist Kim Waters and his band. Plan to join us for this popular event!
