Town of Duck Rotating Art Show: The Outer Banks Fiber Guild
December 12 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm
The Outer Banks Fiber Guild is a community of people who create and enjoy fiber arts who practice, develop and share their talents with one another. Membership is made up of a range of fiber artists – from amateurs to professionals. Through shows and gallery sales, the Guild aims to increase public awareness of fiber and to advance its beauty and utility.
This exhibit is the culmination of several years of work by all guild members as we explored the relationship of color, texture and design using fiber. From times long past, until today, people have expressed themselves through fiber, ranging from the strictly functional; to the purely aesthetic. This inherent desire to modify, improve, enhance and embellish has inspired a rich heritage of fiber work, as old as time, as new as today and as unknown tomorrow.
It is hoped visitors to this exhibit will come away with increased knowledge and appreciation of fiber art is its many forms
The Outer Banks Fiber Arts Guild will sponsor a Trunk Show and sale of work not included in the exhibit as part of the opening reception on Saturday 5 November between 3:00 and 5:00. Visitors will be able to purchase handmade and one of a kind items in many fiber mediums, which will make great gifts for the upcoming Holiday season.
Many of the works in the Show will be for sale and can be purchased from the individual artists.
