
The Town of Duck, in cooperation with our local business community, announces the First Annual "Duck Yuletide Celebration". Join us Friday and Saturday, December 2 and 3, 2011 for a Town-wide celebration of Yuletide Cheer.
On Friday, December 2, 2011, Duck merchants will keep their doors open late for shoppers to find the perfect gift for that special someone, or perhaps, even themselves! Visitors will enjoy Holiday sales, refreshments, and even some Holiday entertainment as they make their way through the Town of Duck. The entire Village Commercial District will be decked out for the holiday season with festive decorations and lights. Many shops will be open until 8:00 p.m. in conjunction with the Duck Holiday Tapas Crawl. Please check with the individual stores for hours and promotions. To complement your shopping experience, Duck eateries are hosting one of their famous Duck Tapas Crawls on Friday, December 2, 2011 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Participating restaurants will be serving up a plate of tapas and a cup of Holiday cheer for one special price that is sure to be pleasing to every palate. On Saturday, December 3, 2011, the Town of Duck will hold its Yuletide Celebration on the Duck Town Green, 1200 Duck Road, beginning at 3:00 p.m., with Santa arriving on a fire truck a little after 3:30 p.m. Local restaurants will be providing light refreshments in exchange for a donation to the Beach Food Pantry. Enjoy the sounds of Ruth Wyand, as she sings Holiday favorites. The event will feature the announcement of the winners of the Town-wide "Business Decorating Contest" and will culminate in the lighting of the Town Tree. Food donations will be collected for the Beach Food Pantry; so please remember to bring items to donate that day. Items currently needed by the Food Pantry are: pasta, rice, cooking oil (vegetable oil), muffin mix, flour, sugar, canned pasta (ravioli, spaghetti, etc.), canned meats, canned tuna, peanut butter, jelly, boxed cereal, oatmeal, and canned vegetables. No perishable items will be accepted. Items may be donated in advance by dropping them off at the Town’s Public Safety Building, 1259 Duck Road during normal business hours.
Restaurants and businesses throughout Town will also keep the "Duck Yuletide Celebration" going throughout the day and into the evening on Saturday, December 3, 2011 with special promotions, Holiday music, and refreshments.

The Roadside Bar and Grill, 1193 Duck Road, will be hosting an Oyster Roast from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the back parking lot.
Outer Barks, 1171 Duck Road (Scarborough Lane Shoppes) will host its 11th Annual Pictures with Santa Paws from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. All of the proceeds from this event will benefit the Friends of Pooh Canine & Feline Cancer Fund. Appointments are necessary and can be made by calling Outer Barks at (252) 261-6279.
