•   MVA – October 20, 2007 – Vehicle one was parked and vehicle two struck vehicle one. Damage listed less than $1000

•   MVA – October 20, 2007 – Olde Duck @ Sandy Ridge – Vehicle failed to see if the line of site was clear before turning into the path of vehicle two. Minor damage and no injuries noted.

•   Arrest – October 19, 2007 – 1238 Duck Road – Officer stopped a vehicle in the village for speeding 42 in a 25. During traffic stop officer found the driver to be operating a vehicle without a license. Driver was arrested for this NOL charge.

•   Larceny – October 18, 2007 – Officer was contacted by Kitty Hawk Kites regarding missing kayaks from their Duck location. It is unknown when the kayaks were taken. Value of the three kayaks listed at $2600.00

•  October 2, 2007 – Traffic Stop officer found driver to be driving while license revoked and placed same under arrest

•  October 5, 2007 – Sanderling Inn – Officer placed individual under arrest for Resist,Delay, Obstruct and Officer and Drunk and Disruptive behavior.

•  Larceny – October 4, 2007 – 107 Wood Duck – Homeowners and rental property manager report that a Dell laptop is missing from the rental home at this location. The case is under investigation. Laptop valued at $500.

•  Traffic Hazard – October 3, 2007 – Four Seasons Lane – Officer was contacted by driver who advised he drove over a drain grate and it damaged his vehicle. The vehicle had an 8 inch gouge in the rocker panel. Victim was told to contact Four Seasons property management group.

•  MVA – October 5, 2007 – NC12 @ Royal Tern – Unit one was traveling north on NC12 and stopped for turning traffic while unit two failed to stop. Unit two struck unit one in the rear and caused $2400.00 in damage to both vehicles.

•   Fraud – September 25, 2007 – DPD – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had used her credit card number without authorization. The individual used the card number to purchase access to online gaming sites. At this time the charges are listed at $50 but victim is awaiting the next credit card statement to ascertain whether additional charges were made.

•   Injury to Real Property – September 24, 2007 – 106 Canvasback – Individual contacted DPD to report that someone had cut six first floor window screens on this location. Approximate damage is listed at $40.00.

•   MVA – September 30, 2007 – NC 12 @ Tides Drive – Unit one was traveling northbound on NC12 and Unit two was traveling southbound. Unit one struck unit two. Approximate damage listed at $5100.00. The driver of Unit one was charged with driving left of center.

•   MVA – September 29, 2007 – NC 12 @ Sanderling Inn – Unit two stopped for traffic, unit one failed to see that traffic had stopped and struck unit two in the rear bumper. Minor damage reported.

•  Arrest – September 10, 2007 – Officer stopped a car that was speeding and found that the driver was DWLR. Upon search of the vehicle officers found drug paraphernalia and marijuana. Vehicle driver was charged with DWLR, Drug Paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana. Driver was transported to DCDC.

•   MVA – September 5, 2007 – PVA 1203 Duck Road - The rear of two vehicles collided. Vehicles were moved prior to LEO arrival.

•   Arrest – September 8, 2007 – Sunset Grille – Officers arrested an individual that they had contact with three times during the evening for complaints of drunk, disruptive, and aggressive behavior. Subject was advised on all three occasions that he was not to return to Sunset or Roadside and on his return there, he was arrested.

•   Fighting/Affray – September 8, 2007 – Sunset Grille – Officers were called to this location regarding a fight in progress. Officers arrived and separated the subjects. Both subjects had very different stories regarding the fight and both refused to press charges. EMS responded as one subject had a bloody nose from the fight.

•   Simple Assault – September 4, 2007 – Ocean Pines Unit 6 – Officer were called to this location for a report of subjects from this address launching water balloons at people on the beach. Officers found the guilty party and confiscated the launcher.

•  MVA – August 30, 2007 – NC 12 @ Jaycrest – Two vehicles traveling north on NC12. Unit two struck unit one in the rear bumper. Unit two was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Damage listed at $600.00

•  MVA – August 28, 2007 – Multiuse path & Sandy Ridge – Vehicle was attempting to turn from BI Plaza. View was obstructed by electrical box and therefore drove into the path of a cyclist traveling south. Cyclist left the area prior to LEO arrival. Damage to vehicle listed at $500.

•  Non Reportable MVA – September 1, 2007 – Wee Winks – Driver contacted DPD to report an accident in the PVA that occurred several hours prior. Vehicle backed into the reporting individual’s vehicle. Damage was minimal.

•  MVA – August 30, 2007 – NC12 @ Charles Jenkins - Two vehicles traveling north on NC12. Unit two struck unit one in the rear bumper. Unit two was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Damage listed at $500.00

•  Arrest – August 31, 2007 – Driver was stopped for left of center and was found to be revoked out of VA. Also found was small marijuana pipe. Charged with NOL, C&R driving and Drug Paraphernalia.

•  Arrest – August 28, 2007 – Islands by Amity – Clerk called DPD to report shoplifting that just occurred and provided vehicle and suspect information. Officer found vehicle, made stop and located $1277 worth of items that the driver and passenger could not provide receipts for. Both were cited for shoplifting. All items were returned to the store.

•  Larceny – August 28, 2007 – 105 Bayberry – Victim reports that someone entered a shed and removed an air compressor and bike pump. Value listed at $160.00.

•  BE&L – August 31, 2007 – 163 Mantoac Ct – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had gained access to the home this date and removed $1020 worth of items. Items included cash, cameras and credit cards and car keys. Incident under investigation.

•  BE&L – September 1, 2007 – 156 Cherokee Ct – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had gained access to the residence and removed $690.00 worth of items. Items included camera and liquor. Incident under investigation.

•  MVA – August 21, 2007 – Wee Winks PVA – Driver of the vehicle ran into the wooden bulkhead as she accidentally hit the gas as opposed to the brake. Damage to the vehicle listed at $3000.00.

•  MVA – August 21, 2007 – NC12 @ Sea Oats – Three vehicles traveling north on NC 12. Driver of vehicle one was not paying attention and hit vehicle two which hit vehicle one. Vehicle three was cited for failure to reduce speed. Damage total listed at $27,000.00.

•  Arrests – August 24, 2007 – BI Station – Two females were observed shoplifting from this business. Business contacted 911 and the individuals were arrested. Bond was placed at the DCDC at $1000 secured for both females.

•  Damage to Real Property – August 23, 2007 – 182 Schooner Ridge – Two individuals launched a water balloon which struck a third floor window on an adjacent home. Damage listed at $100 and suspects will pay for damages.

•  Injury to Personal Property – August 22, 2007 – Scarborough Faire– Driver of a vehicle ran into the stacked railroad tie barrier in the parking area. The ties were slightly pulled from the ground.

•  Larceny from Building – August 25, 2007 – Exotic Cargo – Employee contacted DPD to report that sometime prior to opening the store this day she found that all the cash in the register and in the bank bag was missing. The employee contacted the supervisor to report the incident and since the supervisor closed the store the day prior. There was no damage to the door frame, lock or molding. Cash missing totals $348.00. This case is under investigation.

•  Suspicious Condition – August 25, 2007 – Sunset Grille – DPD officer was called to this location for an EMS call and central advised that this may involve poisoning. Upon arrival officer was told by a witness that an unknown male put something into the drink of the female patient. The female was conscious and alert but could not answer simple questions include “where are you”. Witnesses report that the female went from “fine” to passed out on the floor vomiting. This case is currently under investigation.

•   MVA – August 16, 2007 – NC 12 @ BI – Three vehicles were traveling north on NC12. Units one and two stopped for pedestrians in the crosswalk and unit three failed to stop. Unit three hit two which pushed two into one. Driver of unit three was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid colliding with a vehicle.

•   Larceny – August 15, 2007 – Scarborough Lane Beach Access – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone removed a rental bicycle from the beach access area. Bicycle belongs to Ocean Atlantic Rentals. Value listed at $100.00.

•   Bicycle vs. Pedestrian – August 15, 2007 – NC 12 @ Spyglass – DPD responded to a call wherein a cyclist hit a pedestrian on the bike path. The cyclist was transported to OBH.

•   B/E/L of vehicle – August 17, 2007 – DVFD – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had removed a cordless drill from his unlocked vehicle. The vehicle was parked in the lot on an off throughout the afternoon, so it is possible that the crime occurred at another location. Drill is valued at $400.00

•   Larceny – August 19, 2007 – Barrier Island Unit 213 – Victim was packing her car to leave and left her purse unattended in the unlocked unit. Victim left the purse unattended for approximately 30 minutes.

•   Larceny – August 19, 2007 – 115 Plover Drive – Maintenance Tech for Resort Quest called DPD to report that upon arrival at the home he found the back door open and several items missing. Items missing include a flat screen TV, DVD/VCR combo, CD player, 3 pictures, and a “marketing” bag with paper products. This incident is currently under investigation.

•   Larceny – August 14, 2007 – Wampum Drive Beach Access – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone removed her beach bag containing her cell phone and car keys from the beach.

•   B/E/L of vehicle – August 15, 2007 – 137 Quarterdeck – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had removed his wallet from his unlocked vehicle. The victim remembered having his wallet 24 hours prior and left the vehicle unlocked in his driveway since then. Cash and wallet taken valued at $225.00

•   Civil Dispute – August 16, 2007 – Crown Station – Manager contacted DPD to report that one of her employees had quit today and not paid for two drinks. Former employee is to have no contact with the manager or the store and is not to be on the property.

•  Injury to Real Property – August 12, 2007 – 120 Duck Landing Lane – Unknown individual(s) launched something at the window at this address and broke a window. DPD Officer was on another call therefore SSPD Sgt Slegel responded and handled this call.

•  Injury to Real Property – August 12, 2007 – 101 Osprey Ridge – Unknown individual(s) launched possibly a rock at the window at this address and broke a window. The storm window on the second floor was broken. Damage listed at $100.00

•  Larceny – August 06, 2007 – E Charles Jenkins beach access – Unknown individual(s) removed a skim board from a wagon at this location. Skim board valued at $70.00.

•  MVA – August 09, 2007 – NC 12 @ Flight Drive – Units one and two were both traveling south on NC12. Unit one stopped for a turning vehicle in front of it and unit two was unable to stop. Unit two struck unit one. The driver of unit one requested that the driver of unit two not be cited. Damage was minimal if any at all.

•  MVA – August 07, 2007 – Dunes Crest @ Betsy Court – Units one was parked unattended on the side of the road and unit two struck unit one. Unit two left a phone number on unit one. This was reported several days after it occurred and the officer has been unable to make contact with the driver of unit two. Insurance information was obtained for the vehicle through the employer.

•  MVA – July 31, 2007 – NC 12 & Cook Drive – Unit one struck unit two at the intersection of Cook and NC 12. Damage to the vehicle listed at $25.00 and no damage listed to the bicycle. Vehicle driver charged with failure to see before turning.

•  MVA – August 3, 2007 – PVA Wee Winks – The vehicle failed to stop before colliding with the building. Upon impact the exterior wall bowed inward approximately 6 – 12 inches. Minor damage visible to both building and vehicle. Vehicle damage listed at $250.00

•  MVA – August 4, 2007 – NC 12 & Spyglass – Vehicle two rear ended vehicle one. The driver of unit two was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Damage listed at $4000.00.

•  Larceny – July 18, 2007 – Barrier Island Pool Area – Unknown individual(s) broke into vending machines and removed $300.00 in coins.

•  Larceny – July 25, 2007 – 105 Yolanda Terrace – Unknown individual(s) took an envelope from the victims purse containing $1200.00.

•  Vandalism – July 27, 2007 – 123 Buffelhead – Unknown individual(s) shot a water balloon which shattered a window. Damage listed at $200.00.

•  Simple Assault – July 27, 2007 – PVA of Sunset Grille – Individuals got into a disagreement regarding a parking space and suspect struck victim in the face. Suspect left prior to LEO arrival.

•  Vandalism – July 26, 2007 – Barrier Island PVA – Unknown individual(s) broke out the driver’s side window of the victim’s truck with a railroad tie. The suspects also tampered with the golf cart and mailbox. Approximate damage $200.00.

•  Larceny – July 26, 2007 – Sanderling inn – Unknown individual(s) took an envelope from the victims purse containing $1800.00. The purse was unattended in the room for about 6 hours.

•  Drug Violations – July 19, 2007 – Wampum Drive – Officers responded to this location for a small party and while there found underage drinking and paraphernalia. All four subjects who were underage were transported by SSPD to their respective homes and parents. The paraphernalia and baggie containing what is believed to be marijuana was seized.

•  Larceny – July 17, 2007 – 1452 Duck Road – Victim reports that cash had been removed from her purse in the bedroom closet. Unknown suspects at this time. $210.00 in cash missing.

•  Damage to Personal Property – July 23, 2007 – 1251 Duck Road – Ships Watch management reports that someone broke into the storage shed and “slashed” the tires on all the vehicles in the shed. Damage listed at $260.00.

•  MVA – July 23, 2007 – NC 12 @ Wampum – Single car roll over accident. Damage not listed but occupant had to be extricated from the car.

•  MVA – July 22, 2007 –NC 12 @ Trinitie –Two vehicle fender bender with damage listed at $7000.00

•  MVA – July 22, 2007 – Wee Winks – Unit one backed into unit two at the gas pumps. $3100.00 in damages listed.

•  MVA – July 19, 2007 – Speckle Trout –Sometime during the night an unknown vehicle hit the victims vehicle. Approximate damage $500.00

•  MVA – July 23, 2007 – NC 12 @ Diane – Driver reports that a trash receptacle was left in the roadway by the Trash Collector. Due to oncoming traffic she was unable to avoid the canister and struck same with her passenger side mirror. Damage listed at $250.00

•  MVA – July 25, 2007 – 1245 Duck Road PVA – Unit one backed into unit two while exiting a parking space. $1000.00 in damages listed.

•  MVA – July 26, 2007 – NC 12 @ Poteskeet – Unit one was leaving the PVA and failed to see the cyclist traveling southbound. Unit one struck the cyclist.

•  Larceny – July 26, 2007 – Beach Access Buffelhead – Unknown individual(s) removed two unsecured bicycles from the beach access. Value of bicycles $200.00.

•  Vandalism – July 26, 2007 – 102 Pintail – Two juveniles launched a water balloon at this residence and cracked the siding of the home. Damage listed at $275.00 and juveniles parents agreed to pay for damages.

•  Larceny from Motor Vehicle – July 26, 2007 – 101 E. Charles Jenkins – Unknown individual(s) removed a portable GPS from the glove compartment of a vehicle at this location. The vehicle was not secured. Approximate value $500.00

•  MVA – July 11, 2007 – Duck Road @ NC12 – Two vehicle accident north of Four Seasons Lane. Vehicle traveling north on NC12 struck a parked car along the roadside. Approximate damage $3500.00. Driver of northbound car cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid accident.

•  MVA – July 13, 2007 – Sunset Grille – reported accident in the parking lot hat occurred the night before. Sunset staff member told the victim to wait until the next day to report it. Report on file, no vehicle two information available. Report on file.

•  MVA – July 13, 2007 – Scarborough Lane – Resident reports that she belives she hit a vehicle while backing out of a spot at Scarborough Lane. Front bumper damaged but no other vehicle located. Report on file.

•  Larceny – July 9, 2007 – Hatchcover – Ohio registration plates from a vehicle parked at this location.

•  Shoplifting – July 12, 2007 – 1188 Duck Road – Store clerk called to report that two females stole two bathing suits. The theft was not found until after they left the store and was seen later on security camera. Approximate value $140.00.

•  Larceny – July 11, 2007 – Barrier Island Station – Victims purse was removed from the residence, possibly by an acquaintance. Case open for further investigation. Value of items taken $1845.00.

•  Drunk Disturbance – July 14, 2007 - Sanderling – Officer called to his location for noise disturbance and spoke with all five parties in the room gave verbal warning. Before leaving the parking lot officers were called back. Security said he wanted them evicted and opened the door with the key. They had latched the chain on the door so it was broken to get into the unit. One male being disruptive and using obscene and abusive language. He was asked several times to stop the language and would not. SSPD Officer arrested one male and transported to DCDC. The other occupants were cooperative and a cab was called to take them to Hampton Inn. SSPD charged the male with R.D.O. and Drunk and Disruptive.

•  Larceny - 122 Waxwing - July 4, 2007 – DPD took a report of fishing poles stolen overnight from a boat parked at this location. Approximate value $1700.

•  Larceny - 150 Marlin - July 6, 2007 – DPD took a report of fishing reels, tackle boxes and fishing poles stolen overnight from an unlocked room beneath the home. Approximate value $1775.

•  Larceny - 100 Marlin Drive - July 4, 2007 – DPD took a report of stolen wicker furniture and a wreath from the porch of this home. Items were valued at $310.00.

•  Commercial B/E/L -Barrier Island Resort Snack Bar - July 4, 2007 – DPD took a report that someone had broken into the snack bar. Once inside the individuals removed approximately 50 beers and a Dell Laptop. Value $550.00.

•  Arrest for Fight/Affray – July 2, 2007 – Sunset Grill – Officers were called to this location for a report of a prior assault that occurred involving a bartender. The bartender had a dispute with the two suspects regarding their tab and that the bartender stopped serving the suspects as they were intoxicated. One suspect reached across the bar and grabbed the bartender and upon seeing this, the other suspect punched the bartender. Both suspects were arrested and transported to DCDC.

•  Larceny – June 30, 2007 – Bufflehead – Unknown individual(s) removed two kayaks from the beach access for this home. The kayaks are valued at $350.00.

•  Unauthorized Use of Vehicle – July 01, 2007 – The owner of this a business contacted the DPD to report that her son was to have returned the company van on June 30 and has not shown up yet. He is not responding to cellular phone messages. This information was relayed and a BOLO was issued.

•  MVA – June 28, 2007 – PVA Handee Hugo – Individual driving into the PVA of Handee Hugo and struck a delivery truck whose lift gate was down. Damage listed at $900.00.

•  MVA – June 28, 2007 – NC 12 @ Four Seasons Lane – Vehicles struck in the turning lane at the Four Seasons entrance. The driver of the vehicle that was leaving Four Seasons to travel southbound was cited for Failure to See before Turning. Approximate damage listed at $4500.00.

•  Arrest – June 25, 2007 – Georgetown Sands – Officer called to this location for a “domestic”. Upon arrival found 3 very intoxicated females arguing. The females were cited for underage drinking and placed under arrest. All three females were legally intoxicated.

•  Noise Complaint – 114 Sea Breeze Drive – DPD Officers checked on a loud party at 114 Sea Breeze Drive on Friday June 22nd, pursuant to a tip we had obtained. Upon arrival we were able to locate one underage drinker, although there was undoubtedly many more hiding inside the house. I issued one ABC citation and one of the leaseholders was issued a citation for violation of the town's noise ordinance. Several days prior, DPD responded to this location after a plastic bottle was thrown at a patrol vehicle. During that incident several ABC citations were issued and the leaseholders were issued a warning citation for noise.

•  MVA – June 23, 2007 – Duck Road and Four Seasons Lane – Two vehicle accident while traffic was merging. Approximate damage $600.00.

•  MVA – June 14, 2007 – PVA of Tommy’s Market – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a fender bender in the parking lot. The driver of unit two was parked making a delivery to the business when unit one began backing into the area next to unit one and struck the cargo box of unit two. The approximate damage is listed at $2000.00. Both vehicles were commercially owned delivery trucks. Apparently the driver of unit one misjudged his available clearance when backing.

•  MVA – June 13, 2007 – NC 12 @ Sea Tern – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a multi vehicle accident. Upon arrival found that Unit one was traveling North on NC12 following Unit two. A vehicle in front of Unit two slowed to a stop for a vehicle in front of her turning. Unit two came to a stop. Unit one failed to stop and hit Unit two. Unit two realized Unit one was not going to stop in time and turned her wheel to the right to try and avoid collision with vehicle in front of her. Unit two came to a rest on the bike path on the East side of NC12, 171 feet from where the collision occurred. Unit two also had scratches on the right side of the vehicle due to bushes and trees along the bike path. The driver of Unit one was charged with Failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and driving while his license was suspended. Approximate damage to all vehicles involved $5500.00.

•  Arrest – June 13, 2007 – NC 12 @ Sea Tern – DPD Officer placed the driver under arrest for the above accident as per the narrative describes.

•  Arrest – June , 2007 – DPD Officer placed the responsible adult under non custodial arrest for aiding and abetting underage drinking as well as citing her for a town noise violation.

•  Arrest – June 14, 2007 – NC 12 @ Jaycrest – DPD Officer placed the driver under arrest during a traffic stop wherein it was discovered the driver had been drinking. The driver was then released to the other occupants in the vehicle.

•  Arrest – June 14, 2007 – NC 12 @ Nash court – DPD Officer stopped a vehicle due to a BOLO issued for a C & R driver in the vicinity. While talking to the driver, DPD Officer felt that the driver was under the influence of alcohol. Officer conducted field sobriety tests and alcosensor reading was .18, driver was then placed under arrest for driving while under the influence of alcohol. Individual was placed under a $2500 secured bond.

•  B&E Motor Vehicle – June 13, 2007 – 108 E. Sea Hawk – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle. An unknown individual broke into the victim’s vehicle and removed approximately $420 worth of items inside. This case is currently under investigation.

•  Arrest – June 5, 2007 – NC12 @ Martin Lane – DPD Officer was traveling south on NC12 when a vehicle passed northbound at 50 mph. Officer turned around and followed the subject for two minutes and activated blue lights. Within the two minutes the vehicles was not able to maintain a steady lane of travel and bounced between the yellow and white lines. Upon approaching the vehicle officer noted a smell of alcohol and that the driver had slurred speech and red, glassy eyes. Officer administered several field sobriety tests and then placed the subject under arrest. The alcosensor test readings roadside were .16. The individual was transported to KDH for intoxilizer and readings were .15 and .13. Individual was then transported to DCDC and placed under a secured bond of $500.00.

•  Injury to Real Property – June 9, 2007 – 108 Duck Landing Lane – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of damaged property. Property Management Company advised officer that the tenant had attempted to park a vehicle in an area clearly not designed for such use and in the process, damaged the landscaping. The tenant had parked on an incline near the driveway that had been covered in rock. When the tenant attempted to move his vehicle, the vehicle just sank deeper into the sand. A tow truck was enroute to remove the vehicle and the management company has agreed to let the vehicle be towed out and the owner of the vehicle will be responsible for the cost of repairs. Prosecution is declined in lieu of payment for repairs. Estimated damage is $500.00.

•  Injury to Real Property – June 6, 2007 – 119 Jaycrest – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of damage to real property. Upon arrival officer was informed by the homeowner that a dump truck was attempting to deliver stone to the home across the street and backed into his driveway. The homeowner inspected his driveway after this event and noticed that his driveway was cracked and had an indentation. They called the owner of F&H Landscaping who claims neither knowledge nor responsibility for the damage. Homeowner then contacted the police. DPD Officer instructed the homeowner of how to file this complaint civilly through the Magistrates Office. Approximate damage $300.00.

•  Larceny – June 5, 2007 – 127 W. Sea Hawk – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a stolen lawnmower. Homeowner reports that the lawnmower was stored in an open area under his home. Last known secure date is April 20 and the mower is valued at $250.00.

•  Animal Complaint – June 9, 2007 – Beach Access #6 @ Sanderling – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a sickly raccoon. Officer responded and found a young raccoon that did appear to be unhealthy. The raccoon was hiding under the steps. Officers trapped the raccoon and put the raccoon down.

•  Shoplifting – June 6, 2007 – Handee Hugo/Crowne Station – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a shoplifting that had just occurred. Officer spoke to the manager who reports that an unknown male removed a bottle of soda from the business. The male works for a local business and frequents the store. The manager is not sure if she wants to pursue this matter legally or ban the male from the store. She is to follow up with DPD Officer at the beginning of the officer’s next rotation.

•  MVA – May 30, 2007 – Seabreeze Drive – DPD Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a MVA. Officer arrived and found that Unit two had been on Seabreeze Drive waiting to turn southbound onto NC12 and failed to see a vehicle traveling north on NC12. The driver of unit two was cited for failure to see before turning from a direct line. Approximate damage to both vehicles $4000.00.

•  Animal Call – June 1, 2007 – 163 Four Seasons Lane – DPD was dispatched to this location for a report of a fox in a home under construction. Officer arrived and eventually trapped the fox and then dispatched same outside the home. The decision to dispatch the animal was due to its lack of fear of humans and state law wherein it is illegal to relocate this type of animal.

•  Larceny – May 27, 2007 – 119 Marlin Drive – DPD was dispatched to this location for a report of two beach cruiser bicycles that are reported stolen. Upon arrival officer spoke to the renter who advises that Ocean Atlantic Rentals delivered three bicycles to her cottage the night before and upon awaking today, noticed that two of these bicycles were gone. There is no suspect information and no witnesses to this larceny. Approximate value of the bicycles is listed, by Ocean Atlantic Rentals, at $200.00.

•  Mutual Aid Given – June 3, 2007 – 1018 Corolla Drive – DPD was dispatched via CCSO Mutual Aid Request to this location for a subject who had broken into an occupied home. Upon arrival DPD Officer found that CCSO Deputy had one male in custody. The subject entered the residence where an off duty Norfolk Officer was staying and the Officer’s Police K9 attacked the suspect. All was under control upon the arrival of DPD Officer.

•  Attempted Larceny – May 17, 2007 – Bobs Bait and Tackle – Officer was called to this location for a report of males attempting to steal a large shark statue from the front of the store. Officer arrived and found two males who were attempting to remove the shark. The males were placed under arrest for attempted larceny and were given a $5000 secured bond.

•  B/E/L from residence – May 11, 2007 – Spyglass – Officer was called to this location for a report of a missing television and model boat. The residence had been secured and the last time the objects were known to be in the house was April 25th. The values of the items are listed at $1899.00. This case is under investigation.

•  B/E/L from residence – May 19, 2007 – Pamela Court – Officer was called to this location for a report of breaking, entering, and larceny from this residence. The homeowner contacted DPD to report that someone had entered the ground floor storage room, outside storage shed and the owner’s closet in the living room of the residence. There was no forcible entry into the living area of the residence as it appears a realty company key box was on the door handle, which is now missing. Various items were taken from inside and outside the residence. These items total over $1300.00. This case is currently under investigation.

•  DUI Arrest – May 17, 2007 – Female was stopped for driving left of center and off the road. Upon approaching the vehicle, DPD Officer noticed a smell of alcohol and found the driver to be intoxicated. The driver was tested roadside with the intoxilizer and blew a .20 twice. Upon arrival at the KDH Intoxilizer, her reading was a .17 at which time she was placed under arrest.

•  Criminal Damage to Property – May 15, 2007 – Sea Colony Drive – Officer was called to this location for a report of a vehicle that while attempting to leave a residence, had struck the residence causing damage. The complainant states that a friend was intoxicated attempted to drive and stuck the residence with her vehicle. The driver then called a taxi and went to her residence. Complainant called a tow truck as the vehicle owner could not be contacted to remove the vehicle the next day. Complainant stated that he preferred to attempt to gain restitution from the vehicle’s owner, his friend. Damage to the residence was approximately $500.00, damage to the vehicle was approximately $500.00.

•  Larceny – May 14, 2007 – Dock’s Court – Officer was called to this location for a report of a missing golf cart charger. The homeowner called to report that his charger had been in the unsecured ground level storage area beneath his residence and was last known to be in place on April 25, 2007. There is no information regarding possible suspects and the item is valued at $420.00.

•  Injury to Real Property – May 19, 2007 – Duck Road/Soundfeet Shoes – Officer was called to this location for a report of an unknown vehicle having caused damage to the wooden railing outside the store. Officers were unable to match the damage to the fence to any of the adjacent vehicles and the employee who called in the damage was unable to provide an accurate description of the vehicle. Therefore the suspect is unknown. Approximate damage $200.00.

•  B/E/L of Vehicle – May 10, 2007 – Duck Road – Officer was called to this location for two reports of tools and construction equipment from this location. Upon arrival officer learned that the majority of the tools were taken from two construction trailers that were backed into this driveway. The unknown suspects broke the latches on the trailers and removed all tools with the exception of any of the tiling tools. Approximate value of the tools taken is $8510.00. This incident is still under investigation.

•  B/E/L from residence – May 11, 2007 – Bufflehead Road – Officer was called to this location due to a report of televisions that were taken from this location. The reporting individual was a representative of the Property Management Company, Resort Quest. It appears that access was gained from the bottom floor door as the door was pushed slightly closed but not secured. Officers searched the home and found that three televisions were missing. It appears that the suspects attempted to remove a fourth TV but left it in the entry area. Latent prints were attempted with no success. Officers are still investigating this incident and monetary value is listed at $4400.00

•  B/E/L from residence – May 13, 2007 – Ocean Crest Way – Officer was called to this location due to a report of televisions that were taken from this location. The reporting individual was a representative of the Property Management Company, Resort Quest. It appears that access was gained from the bottom floor north side sliding glass door as the door was slightly ajar and appears to have pry marks around the door jam. Officers searched the home and found that two televisions were missing. A TV remote control was found outside the residence but it was covered in sand and moisture from the night prior and therefore latent prints were attempted with no success. Officers are still investigating this incident and are awaiting a return call from the homeowner to obtain monetary value. According to the property manager, the televisions were apparently missing on May 11th but they did not report it to police until May 13.

•  Larceny– May 08, 2007 – Ships Wheel Court – Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of larceny. Upon arrival at the residence, the owner advised that his patio furniture was stolen. There are no signs of forced entry as the pool area could be accessed by a gate with no lock. There were eight white chairs that are reported stolen. There are currently no suspects in this case and the value is listed at $200.00.

•  MVA – May 07, 2007 – Waterfront Shops PVA – Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of an auto accident. Upon arrival officer found that vehicle 1 was backing from a parking space and vehicle 2 did not see the other vehicle. Both drivers report that they didn’t see the other vehicle. No citations were issued and estimated damage is $300.00 per car.

•  MVA – May 12, 2007 – Red Sky PVA – Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of an auto accident. Upon arrival officer spoke to the operator of unit one who reports that he returned to his vehicle to find a mark on the right rear bumper of the car. It appears another vehicle may have rubbed it while pulling out of an adjacent space. There is not information regarding the other vehicle. Approximate damage $500.00.

•  Mutual Aid– May 4, 2007 – Deep Neck Road, Corolla – Officer stopped a vehicle at Scarborough Lane. The driver explained that she had just left her husband at their beach cottage in Corolla following a fight where he hit her. DPD Officer contacted Currituck Deputies and informed them of the incident. Deputy arrived at Scarborough Lane and spoke with the female. She had a very swollen and cut lip. Currituck Deputy and DPD officer then escorted the female to the residence so that she could obtain her belongings. DPD Officer then escorted the female to the Hilton Inn.


•  Damage to Real Property– April 30, 2007 – Skimmer Way – Officer was dispatched ot this location for a report of a door that appears to have been kicked in. Officers arrived and found that the door on the bottom floor was knocked in and the fame was broken. The Rental Property Manager responded and conducted a “walk through” with the officers. Nothing appeared to be out of place or missing.

•  Harassing Phone Calls– May 1, 2007 – Duck – Citizen came to the DPD to report that her ex-boyfriend was harassing her by leaving harassing phone messages. She was informed of the process to obtain a domestic violence protective order and is not interested in obtaining one. The male lives in KDH and officers of the DPD informed the KDH PD of the situation. According to the KDH PD the male has five active warrants.

•  Found Property – April 23, 2007 – Ocean Way Court – Homeowner called DPD to report that he found an ATM card on his deck. Officer tracked down the owner, who lives in Manteo. Officer interviewed the card’s owner and advised him that if he had no business in Duck, that he should not be on the deck of homes in Duck. The card’s owner is a 16 year old high school student at MHS and has had minor interaction with the local law enforcement officers to include the school resource officer at the high school.

•  Animal Complaint – April 24, 2007 – Gannet Lane – Officer was called to this location due to a report of dog bite. Victim reports that two dogs were running unattended in the area and had cornered his cat on his back deck. The victim attempted to get the dogs away from his cat when he was bitten. Officer contacted the ACO on duty. The victim took himself and his cat for medical attention and both had suffered several puncture wounds. The victim was then informed of the process to press charges, should he desire, through the Dare County Magistrate’s Office.

•  Mutual Aid– April 29, 2007 – Coral Cay Court @ Sandpiper Cay Condos Kitty Hawk – Lt. Ferguson of the TOD Bloodhound Tracking team was contacted by the Kitty Hawk Police Department to assist in locating a missing, suicidal female. Lt. Ferguson and Morse responded and tracked the female’s scent from the condo to the parking lot several times. The scent was lost in the parking lot area. At the time the Bloodhound Team was released, the female had not been located.

•  Arrest– April 22, 2007 – NC 12 @ Settlers Lane – Officer stopped a vehicle for traveling 42 in a 25mph zone and discovered that the driver was very intoxicated. The subject refused the intoxilizer test and therefore a warrant was obtained in order to obtain a blood sample. This sample was submitted to SBI lab for testing. Subject was charged with DWI and speeding. Her vehicle was towed by Seto’s for storage.

•  Suspicious Condition – April 20, 2007 – Oyster Catcher Lane– Officer was called to this location due to a report of individuals in the home, which is under construction, with flashlights. Officer responded and found two males exiting the house. Officer requested mutual aid from SSPD and then spoke to the males. The males report that they are staying across the street and are working on the home for the owner. They report that they heard a noise coming from the area of the home under construction and were investigating that noise. All appeared to be ok and the individuals were warned that their presence on the property again would constitute trespassing.

•  Arrest (2) – April 14, 2007 – 1150 Duck Road – Officer was dispatched to a hit and run at this location. The driver of a black pickup drove across the yard and into the parked van. One occupant was asleep in the vehicle and the other was out of the car on a hillside. Officer ran the tags on the truck. The tags came back with an insurance stop, and the driver with an indefinitely suspended license and 3 outstanding warrants. The driver of the truck was transported to DCDC by DPD officer. The passenger was arrested by SSPD and transported to DCDC for possession of marijuana and alcohol. Driver was cited for driving while subject to an impaired substance, DWLR, no insurance and hit and run. The approximate damage to both vehicles is listed at $8,000.00

•  Arrest – April 15, 2007 – NC12 @ Marlin Drive – Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding 51/25. The driver was subsequently arrested for DWI following a field sobriety test.

•  Arrest – April 14, 2007 – NC 12 @ Nash Road – Officer was following a vehicle northbound on NC12 when the vehicle made a sharp turn onto Nash Road. Officer ran the plate and continued to follow the vehicle as it had returned to the northbound lanes of NC12. The vehicle made several stops northbound and due to the strange behavior and the time of day officer decided to stop the vehicle. The vehicle turned onto Marlin and stopped at 126 Marlin drive. Officer obtained the drivers license and the license came back as suspended with three failure to appear charges. Officer contacted KHPD for mutual aid and upon arrival of the officer placed the driver under arrest. The vehicle was then searched and less than ½ ounce of marijuana was located as well as a scale and smoking pipe. The driver was taken to DCDC and charged with DWLR, and drug violations-paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

•  Larceny – April 13, 2007 – 125 Speckle Trout – Homeowner came to the DPD to report that someone had removed two keep off the dunes signs and a flag from his property. The homeowner states that he had placed the signs the day prior and upon awakening today noticed they were gone. Approximate value $38.52

•  Larceny – April 11, 2007 – Chip Court – Officer was called to this location for a report of larceny. Upon arrival officer spoke with an employee of the company. The employee stated that they had a delivery of studs the day prior and upon arriving today, 20-25 of these studs are missing. Approximate value $75.00

•  Open Door – April 11, 2007 – Stained Glass and Mosaic/Loblolly Pines – While on business checks officer found the rear door unlocked to this business. The door was unable to be secured and no contact information is on file for this business as it is new. Officer left a business card and note informing the owner of the open door and asking the owner to contact the DPD with after hours contact information.

•  Found Property – April 09, 2007 – 1200 Duck Road/Town Park – Town employee found a blue key ring with two keys. Keys were turned over to DPD and officer was able to determine that the keys were the property of Barrier Island Station. Keys were returned to BI office.

•  Found Property – April 10, 2007 – In the sound near Barrier Island – Officer recovered a yellow and white beach cruiser bicycle from the sound in the area of BI. The brand appears to be a Hampton Cruiser, with Cruise Classic written on the side of the bike. No other information available at this time.

•  MVA – April 09, 2007 – Wings PVA – Unit one was parked and unattended facing west in the PVA of Wings. Unit two was backing from a parked position opposite of Unit one. As unit two backed it struck unit one in the rear bumper. As per repair estimate damage to Unit one is $1839.12.

B/E/L – April 7, 2007 – Schooner Ridge – Homeowner arrived at his rental cottage to find that someone had removed the padlock from the storage shed and once inside removed numerous fishing articles, air compressor and also attempted to remove the cottage sign which broke into pieces. The home was last known secure November 5, 2006. Approximate damage to the sign $1500 and missing items valued at $190. Unknown suspects and no evidence left behind.

B/E/L – April 7, 2007 – Sea Breeze – Homeowner arrived at his rental cottage to find that someone had been inside the home as it appeared that someone had been staying there. Items were used and out of place. He began to check other items of value in the house and found that scuba gear was missing as well as some childrens clothing. Total value of missing items $2425. There did not appear to be any signs of forced entry and a neighbor reports seeing a red sports-type car having been in the driveway. The case is under further investigation.

Larceny – April 7, 2007 – Norbanks Drive – Homeowner contacted DPD to report that someone had removed a Fed Ex box from her doorstep on April 5. Fed Ex is investigating but shows that the package was delivered on 4/5/07 at 14:14 hrs. The 25 lb box contained various household items and is valued at $3000.

Mutual Aid – April 3, 2007 – Ocean Blvd Ste 105, Southern Shores – SSPD Officer on patrol found a door open to this business in Southern Shores. The officer contacted DPD for mutual aid. DPD Officers responded and assisted with checking the business, all found to be ok.

Criminal Damage to Property (Vandalism) – April 8, 2007 – Duck Road – DPD officer was dispatched to this location for a report of her home and vehicle being egged. The victim reports that she heard the hits but thought it was the wind. Approximate damage $1500. This area will be placed on the extra patrol watch for the next several days.

Criminal Damage to Property (Vandalism) – April 7, 2007 – Plover Drive – Contractor contacted DPD to report that someone had damaged a concrete driveway that he had poured the day prior. Apparently while the concrete was curing unknown individuals had carved their names in the driveway as well as having drawn hearts with “I love Jake” in them. The contractor reports that there was a house 2 doors down that had a lot of teenagers as he saw then throughout the day he was working. The individuals who were staying at this cottage checked out early this morning and officer will contact Carolina Designs rental agency for further investigation. The damage is listed at $500 however there is no way other than to tear out the section to repair the damage.

Criminal Damage to Property (Vandalism) – April 4, 2007 – Marlin Drive – Homeowner contacted DPD to report that he discovered that someone had cut the screen on the door to his porch. Nothing was missing from the porch and there were no signs that the suspect(s) attempted to enter the residence.

Lost Property – April 4, 2007 – Scarborough Faire Shops – Individual contacted DPD to report that he had lost his wallet at this location within the last hour. The brown wallet contained various credit cards and ID cards. The individual had contacted his credit card companies and bank prior to contacting the police. If the wallet is recovered, it will be returned to the victim. Approximate value of the wallet $25.00.

MVA – April 7, 2007 – NC 12 @ Norbanks – Vehicle traveling southbound hit a deer. SSPD officer was on scene traveling home from Corolla. Vehicle windshield was completely shattered and the deer was severely injured. SSPD officer dispatched the deer. Vehicle is parked at the DVFD until such time that the windshield can be repaired.

MVA – April 6, 2007 – NC 12 @ Kelloggs – Vehicle in the turning lane attempting to turn into Kelloggs Supply struck a cyclist as he was traveling north on the bike path. The cyclist then struck a vehicle waiting in the parking lot to turn northbound. The driver of unit one was cited for failure to see before turning. Both vehicles had minor damages and the cyclist refused EMS transport.

The employee was not able to provide a detailed description of the male or the vehicle and could not state how much gasoline was taken.
•  Suspicious Condition– March 24, 2007 – Ocean Crest Way – DPD was contacted regarding a male on the beach who appeared to be unconscious. Officers responded and found the male to be ok. •  Noise Disturbance/Mutual Aid – March 23, 2007 – 1400 Duck Road – Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of “shots fired.” Officer immediately requested mutual aid from SSPD and went to this location. Officer met with occupant. It was discovered that these individuals were launching potatoes from the deck via a PVC pipe and hairspray. The occupants were warned regarding this noise disturbance and agreed to cease this activity.

•  Larceny – 127 Dunes Crest Court – March 2, 2007 – Homeowner came to the DPD to report that someone had removed a 100 lb propane tank from his residence. The tank was last known secure October 31, 2006 and was discovered this date. Contact was made with the fuel company who states they have no record of removing the tank. This case is currently under further investigation.

•  B/E & L – 115 Buffelhead Road – March 4, 2007 – Officer was contacted by the homeowner regarding a prior B/E &L that occurred at this location. Homeowner reports that three LCD TV’s were missing and that the residence was last known secure on February 4th when the homeowner’s accountant was at the house to complete a full inventory of the home. The homeowner further states that several vendors have been at the house. Property is managed by Resort Quest, they were contacted and met the officer and homeowner at the house. The manager will provide the DPD with a list of vendors who were in the house since February 4th. This case is forwarded for further investigation. Approximate value of items taken $2550.00.

The driver subsequently registered .13 on an intoxilyzer test.

The vehicle owner reports that he parked his vehicle the evening before and upon returning to his vehicle found scrapes/damage to the back bumper and around the back driver’s side door. •  Fraud – January 19, 2007 – Fraud – Duck Resident – A Duck resident stopped by the Department to report unauthorized credit card charges placed on their card. Apparently these charges were placed via the internet and amount to $149.51 at this time. This case has been forwarded for further investigation.

•  Suspicious Persons – January 19, 2007 – Carolina Designs Realty PVA – While on patrol Officer found four males skateboarding at the Carolina Designs PVA. Officer approached the males and informed them that they are not allowed to skateboard in any parking areas within the Town. Officer issued a verbal warning and the subjects left without incident.

•   Trespassing – January 15, 2007 – Speckle Trout – Officer was called to this location regarding a trespassing situation. The owner of the residence wanted to report that her estranged husband was at the property attempting to obtain property that he feels is his. Owner reports that the property is in her name and that the divorce is final. Officer informed the owner of the process that she needs to follow through the magistrate’s office.

•  MVA – January 27, 2007 – Baum Trail and Station Bay Drive – DPD responded to this location for an MVA. The driver of the vehicle states that a deer ran from the wooded area into her vehicle. Approximate amount of damage $3500.00

He stated that he heard a rock hit the back sliding glass door. Upon investigating he found a small rock at the back door and children running away. Officer did not locate any children and provided the renter with a copy of the report for the rental agency. No damage to the window was evident.

•  Figthing/Disorderly Conduct – December 28, 2006 – 100 Block of Charles Jenkins – Officer was contacted by a resident who reports a group of males skateboarding and what appears to be fighting in this location. Officer responded and with mutual aid assistance stopped a vehicle at NC12 and Plover in which the males were riding. Officers informed the males why they were being stopped and requested permission to search the vehicle. The driver did not provide such permission. The individuals were warned about their behavior and left the area.

•  D.O.A. – December 22, 2006 – Officer was dispatched to this location to assist DCEMS and DVFD with a call regarding a 90 year old unconscious male. Upon arrival officer found DVFD members and DCEMS personnel administering CPR. Upon the direction of Medical Control, CPR was stopped and the male was pronounced deceased.

•  Suspicious Person – December 24, 2006 – Crowne PVA – Officer noticed a male walking around the Crowne station PVA, picking up trash and throwing it as well as throwing the vacuum hose onto the ground and swinging a metal coat hanger around. The male was not known to the staff of the Crowne and when approached stated he was just waiting for a ride. The male stated his friend was coming to pick him up.

•  Injury to Property – December 21, 2006 – 139 Cook Drive – Homeowner contacted DPD to report that the exterior deck railing on his home had been broken. He reports that the home is not in a rental program and that he does not know how it was broken.

•  Lost Property – December 22, 2006 – Beach Area – Individual came to the DPD to report that he had lost his cellular telephone on the beach in Duck. The phone was last known secure December 21. The telephone is a gray Motorola razor phone. Approximate value $200.00

•  Littering – December 14, 2006 – Tides Drive – DPD was called to this location due to a dispute between a contractor and the driver of a waste removal company. The driver subsequently dumped the entire load of construction waste and debris on the property which spilled into the street. Officer informed both parties that this was a civil matter but due to the fact that the driver dumped the debris onto the street area, a ticket would be issued to the driver for littering. The original dispute needs to be taken to civil court as it was not deemed a criminal matter. The truck driver returned to the location, picked up all the debris that was in the street and received his citation.

•  Suspicious Vehicle/Trespassing – December 15, 2006 – While on patrol DPD officer noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at a residence with an individual sleeping inside the car. Officer requested SSPD mutual aid and, upon their arrival, officers approached the vehicle. Officer found that the individual was a person, known to the DPD, who stated she had nowhere to go. Officers advised the female that she is not to be sleeping in her vehicle on any driveway, cul-de-sac, parking lot or any other area within the Town of Duck. The female agreed to leave the area. Later in the weekend another Officer found the same female asleep in her car at the Crown Station. Officers informed the female that this was her last warning and she was to stop this behavior and leave town. She was informed that if she was found again, she could be arrested for Trespassing. The female agreed to leave the area.

•  B&E/Larceny – November 24, 2006 – E. Charles Jenkins Lane – Officer was called to this location due to a report of a prior BE&L. The owners state that they left the residence mid morning to go to the gym and checked all doors before leaving. Upon their return several hours later they found that $240 in cash from a wallet on the kitchen counter was missing as well as a bottle of Tide detergent. According to the owner a cleaning person was reported to have been in the house as per the rental company. This case is currently under investigation.

•  Mising Person – November 22, 2006 – Scarborough Lane – Officer received a call regarding a missing elderly male. An individual who found the male reports that he is lost and thinks he is in Missouri. The male reports that he wants to go home but does not know where he is. During this time Dare Central received a call that the male is to be at 164 Ocean Way and that he suffers from Alzheimer’s. Officer transported the male back to his family.

•  MVA – November 26, 2006 – NC12 @ Sandy Ridge – Officer witnessed a motor vehicle accident wherein a deer ran out in front of a motorcyclist traveling north. The motorcyclist sustained minor injury ad refused treatment via DCEMS. The estimated damage is $1200.00.

She further reports that they were last secure the evening prior and when she went to count the cash at the end of business today she noticed them missing. This case is under investigation and the approximate value of the boxes is $70 and the cash was approximately $300.

•  Fraud/Impersonation – November 1, 2006 – DPD officer was contacted by Town Staff to report that an individual is claiming, on loan documents, that he works for the Town of Duck. Town Staff had received calls from the proposed lenders attempting to verify employment. The individual has never worked for the town and this is not the first time he has purported to be an employee. This case is under investigation as the individual gave a fictitious Southern Shores address as well.

•  Arrest – November 3, 2006 – Duck Road – Officer conducted a traffic stop that resulted in an arrest for Open Container and possession of ½ oz or less of marijuana. The individual was cited for these charges and released.

•  Natural Death – November 5, 2006 – Spindrift – DPD Officers were called to this location for an apparent natural death. The incident is under investigation and further information forthcoming.

•  Larceny – October 26, 2006 – Port Trinitie – A representative of the Port Trinitie HOA contacted DPD to report that an unknown person removed 20 pumpkins from their display overnight. Approximate value of these items $100.00. Under investigation.

•  Breaking & Entering/Vandalism – October 26, 2006 – Scarborough Lane – The site supervisor for this home under construction contacted DPD to report that during the night someone had entered the residence and used black spray pain on walls, doors, and light fixtures, had written obscenities and defecated on a marble counter top. All the damage to the home was on the ground floor and it appears that the subject(s) gained entrance via a first floor window. This case is under investigation. Approximate damage $1570.00.

•  Larceny – October 19, 2006 – Duck’s Cottage – Victim contacted DPD to report that sometime this date her wallet was removed from her place of work. The wallet contained various credit cards, an un cashed check payable to the victims husband and the wallet itself. The wallet was later found in the women’s restroom at Wal Mart with all contents still inside.

•  Burglary – Non Forced Entry – October 27, 2006 – Scarborough Lane – Victim contacted DPD to report that it appears as though someone had been in the residence. The victim further reports that nothing was taken. The homeowner reported that three air mattresses were set up and it appears that someone had used the bathrooms as damp towels were hanging on the edge of the tub. This case is under investigation.

•  Larceny – October 30, 2006 – N. Snow Geese – Homeowner contacted DPD to report that someone had stolen two kayaks overnight. The homeowner reports that his daughter had forgotten to secure the kayaks and he last knew them to be secure the evening prior. Homeowner states that the bicycle cable and lock that were with the kayaks were also removed. This case is currently under investigation and the approximate value of items taken $650.00.

•  Breaking and Entering/Larceny – October 18, 2006 – Waxwing Lane – Officer was called regarding a possible BE&L that occurred at this location. Victim stated that her residence was being remodeled and that there had been several workers in the residence on 10-17-2006. Victim stated that she and her family had left the residence at about 1200 hours on 10-17-2006 and returned at about 1600 hours on the same date. When they returned she found that a Ralph Lauren bag containing new bed sheets had been taken from second floor landing and a Hewlett Packard laptop Computer was missing from her son bedroom, both of which were present prior to them leaving the residence. Several vendors were on scene that date and investigation is ongoing into those vendors. Approximate value $800.00.

•  Damage to Property/Vandalism – October 13, 2006 – Magnolia – Officer was dispatched by central to this location regarding vandalism to the property. Officer spoke with the complainant who is Stan White Realty agent Ms. Jean Sherwood. She stated that a neighbor called the realty company last night and reported this vandalism. The vandalism is located on the West side of the house just above the first platform of stairs. It contains profane language and the words appear to be stained or painted on the residence. This incident is under investigation.

•  MVA – September 26, 2006 – NC 12 @ Sanderling Inn – Vehicle 2 and 3 were stopped just before the crosswalk leading to the Sanderling Inn Spa. Vehicle 1 failed to see the two stopped vehicles and was unable to reduce his speed before colliding into the rear of vehicle 2. The impact caused vehicle 2 to collide into the rear of vehicle 3. The airbags were deployed in vehicle 1, however no injuries were reported. There was extensive damage to the front of vehicle 1. Vehicle 2 sustained damage to the rear and right rear side, which prevented the rear doors from being opened. There was also minor damage to the front bumper where vehicle 2 collided into vehicle 3. Vehicle 3 sustained damage to the rear bumper and the fiberglass cap mounted over the pick-up bed was forced back several inches causing possible damage. The driver of vehicle 1 was charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid and accident.

•  Missing Person – September 30, 2006 – Bayberry Drive – Officer was called to this location to take a report of a missing person. Officer arrived and spoke with the wife of the missing man. The wife stated that on Thursday the 28th she and her husband had a spat and her husband left in his truck. She said that the spat was a normal occurrence for them. She also stated that he has done this before, but he usually calls that same day. She said that her husband’s mother passed away about two weeks ago, and thought that might have something to do with it. Officer issued a BOLO for the area to attempt to locate the husband. Officer called the wife on October 1st and found that the husband did show up at the home on the night of the 30th. All ok

•  MVA – October 6, 2006 – PVA Handee Hugo – Officer was dispatched to this location due to an accident involving a vehicle and bicycle. Vehicle number one stopped at the intersection of Han Dee Hugo PVA and NC 12 Hwy. as she was preparing to merge onto NC 12 Hwy. Bicyclist number one passed her and she began her entry into the roadway when she failed to see bicyclist number two crossing her path. Thus vehicle number one struck bicyclist number two. Bicyclist number three reacted to the collision and fell as he attempted to swerve away from bicyclist number two. No serious injuries were reported to emergency officials on the scene. All parties involved refused medical care. The driver of the vehicle was cited for failure to see before turning from a direct line.

•  B&E/Larceny – October 3, 2006 – Speckle Trout Drive – Officer was dispatched to this location for a report of a prior larceny. The property manager was at the location to inspect it and found that multiple pieces of electronics equipment was missing and two doors were unlocked. Officer found no evidence of a forced entry. Several doors to the home appear to have been unlocked as did several windows. Contact was made with the homeowner (“victim”) who states that he left the home on September 22 and that the residence was completely secured. This incident is currently under investigation and the value of the multiple missing electronics components is valued at approximately $8100.00.

•  B&E– October 6, 2006 – Sea Breeze Avenue – Officer was contacted by the homeowner who reports that someone had apparently attempted to gain access to his home. Officer arrived and found that the screen from one of the windows had been cut and an attempt to open the window was made. The suspect(s) did not gain access to the home and the only damage incurred by the homeowner was $50 to replace the screen. This case is open for further investigation.

•  Suspicious Vehicle – October 8, 2006 – Duck Road PVA – Officer was on routine patrol and noticed a suspicious vehicle in the lot. The vehicle was backed into a spot and has a flat rear tire. Officer checked the registration and plate and found that the license plate had a revocation order/no insurance and pick up order. Officer retrieved the plate and will return to DMV. Follow up = the owner of the property contacted DPD to inquire as to how to get the vehicle removed. The owner was advised that since the vehicle is on private property, he should call a tow company and have the vehicle removed.

•  Larceny from Building – October 7, 2006 – Wampum Drive – Officer was contacted by the homeowner who reports that a HVAC unit had been removed from the residence within the past two weeks. Officer observed that one of the two units had been disconnected from the utility box and compression hoses cut as well. This incident is still under investigation and the approximate value of the missing unit is $3500.00.

•  MVA – September 21, 2006 – Wee Winks Market – The driver of the vehicle states he hit the gas pedal instead of the break when attempting to park in the lot at this location. The driver then struck a post on the porch. Approximate damage $8000.00.

•  Breaking & Entering – September 19, 2006 – Jasmine Court – Officer was dispatched to this location regarding a breaking and entering that had just occurred. The occupants left the house for approximately 3 hours and upon returning found that an unknown individual had kicked in the bottom floor door. SSPD was called to assist in searching the home and found no one there. The occupants informed officers that nothing appeared missing although a bag appears to have been riffled through. The neighborhood was canvassed and general descriptions of two suspicious vehicles were obtained. This case is currently under investigation.

•  Breaking & Entering – September 22, 2006 – E. Seahawk – Officer was dispatched to this location regarding a prior breaking and entering. Homeowners arrived and found that an unknown person gained access to the home via an upper floor window. It appears that nothing was taken although the beds and couches appear to have been sit on and used. The owners were the last ones to use the residence in August and the only people authorized to have been in the home were cleaners. There was no damage to the house, windows or doors.

•  MVA – September 13, 2006 – NC12 @ Christopher – Victim contacted DPD to report that an unknown individual backed into her vehicle while parked at work. Victim states that the only vehicles she noticed parked near her car were company vans and trucks. Approximate damage $2000.00

•  MVA – September 14, 2006 – Wings PVA – Victim contacted DPD to report that a vehicle had backed from a parking space into her car. She reports that she attempted to alert the driver by honking her horn but the driver didn’t stop. The driver of the other vehicle was charged with a safe movement violation. Approximate damage $4500.00

•  Vandalism – September 12, 2006 – Fishbone’s Restaurant – Management called to report that an unknown individual damaged the two A/C units by shoving broomsticks into them. The damage was extensive enough to require replacement of both. There are no suspects at this time and damage is listed at $6000.00.

•  Vandalism – September 14, 2006 – Ruddy Duck – Management called to report that an unknown individual removed the street sign from the ground and damaged same beyond repair. The Sanderling HOA is responsible for replacement of the sign. Officer is currently awaiting a return call from the Warden of Sanderling HOA. Several messages have been left.

•  Breaking and Entering – September 11, 2006 – Seabreeze drive – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had removed a screen from a top level deck area window. Nothing was taken and nothing appeared to have been moved. There was no damage to the screen and none of the other doors appeared to have been tampered with. There are no suspects at this time.

•  Breaking and Entering – September 14, 2006 – Seabreeze drive – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had cut a screen from a top level deck area window. Nothing was taken and nothing appeared to have been moved although it appears someone may have riffled through some DVD’s. There was minimal damage to the screen ($50) and none of the other doors appeared to have been tampered with. There are no suspects at this time.

•  Arrest – September 11, 2006 – Barrier Island PVA – Officer stopped a vehicle traveling 42/25. While conducting the traffic stop it was determined the individual was wanted in Delaware for Felony charges. The individual was transported to DCDC.

•  Arrest – September 13, 2006 – Construction Site at new surf shop – Officer was dispatched to the Crowne PVA regarding an individual who had just run into the pumps and drove away. A description for the vehicle was given and same was located behind the new surf shop adjacent to Scarborough Lane. Officers located the driver who was extremely intoxicated and confused. Officer obtained an intoxilyzer reading of .18. Officers also determined that the man was cited for DUI on August 30 and was carrying a magistrates order and revocation order for his driver’s license. The driver was transported to the intoxylizer room in KDH where he refused the test. The driver was charged with DUI, DWLR, hit and run with property damage and damage to personal property.

•  Arrest – September 3, 2006 – NC 12 – Officer stopped a vehicle for speeding (45/25) and found that the driver was driving while license was revoked, had an open container and was verbally abusive to the officer. She was subsequently arrested for speeding, DWLR, Open container after having consuming alcohol and disorderly conduct.

•  Arrest – September 11, 2006 – Barrier Island PVA – Officer stopped a vehicle for traveling 42/25 and found that the driver was wanted in Delaware on Felony charges. Individual was transported to DCDC.

•  MVA – September 2, 2006 – NC 12 @ Baum – Unit one was traveling south on NC12 in the area of Baum Trail when a deer ran from the East side of NC12 traveling west and was struck by Unit One. Approximate damage $1000.00

•  MVA – September 2, 2006 – Colony by the Sea PVA – Officer was contacted by the victim who reports that he returned to his vehicle to find a note on his car wherein someone hit the vehicle. The approximate damage is $500.00. This incident is still under investigation.

•  MVA – August 29, 2006 – Norbanks PVA – Victim contacted DPD to report that upon returning to his vehicle he found a dent in the driver side quarter panel. There were no witnesses to the event and approximate damage to the vehicle is listed at $500.00

•  Larceny – September 08, 2006 – Sea Breeze Drive – Victim contacted DPD to report that a pool umbrella was taken from his pool area. He states that he last knew the umbrella was secure the day prior and that there were a lot of individuals in the area drinking and setting off fireworks. There are no suspects at this time. Approximate value of umbrella $40.00.

•  Vandalism – September 9, 2006 – Sunflower Court – Victim contacted DPD to report that someone had covered the entire second floor deck with a powdery substance. After further investigation it appears that an unknown individual(s) had emptied two fire extinguishers on the deck. Property management company to clean up. No known suspects at this time. $1000.00.
